Practical Grammar of Lithuanian Language (for A2 and B1 Students)
Description
The aim of the course is to deepen the students’ knowledge in understanding and applying the regularities of Lithuanian grammar. The course presents the grammatical categories of adjectives and adjectival pronouns, the degrees of adjectives, the cases of personal pronouns, reflexive verbs and the grammatical categories of quantitative and multiplicative numerals, prefix and suffix formation, the subjunctive and imperative mood, neuter gender and adverbs.

To deepen the students’ knowledge in understanding and applying the regularities of Lithuanian grammar.
Prerequisites
Finished or being enrolled in the course Lithuanian for Foreigners A2.
Course content
1. Grammatical categories of adjectives and adjectival words: number, gender, and case. Agreement. Neuter gender. Comparative and superlative degrees.
2. Grammatical categories of quantitative and multiplicative numerals. Government and agreement.
3. Reflexive verbs. Imperative and subjunctive mood.
4. Grammatical categories of personal pronouns.
5. Derivation. Suffixation (diminutives), prefixation (verbs with prefixes).
Assesment Criteria
Requirements for the minimal positive evaluation of the course:
1. Correctly uses the cases of singular of the most common adjective paradigms (-as, -a).
2. Correctly uses the nominative and accusative of quantitative and multiplicative numerals until 10.
3. Correctly uses the imperative and subjunctive mood of singular verbs.
4. Understands the grammatical meaning of reflexive verbs.
5. Correctly uses nominative and genitive of personal pronouns.
6. Correctly uses at least five different prefixes.
