Description

This course aims to teach new vocabulary, indirect speech and the informal banmal forms that are necessary for colloquial communication. The students will learn to express themselves on cultural and social topics by using the upper beginner level grammar models, to apply formal Korean language expressions in writing and to use special determined expressions (greetings, apologies, enquiries, etc.)

Aim of the course

The aim of the course is to get the students acquainted with upper beginner Korean grammar, encourage communication and expression of one’s thoughts in the Korean language.

Korean Language and Culture (Level 3)

Course content

1. Adverbs (Hobbies and the peculiarities of the intergenerational communication). 2. The causal ending - (Cinema, communication at the office). 3. Comparisons (Appearances). 4. Expression of tendencies (Buying apparel). 5. Polite tag question (Character and personality). 6. Expression of decision (Promises). 7. Incomplete action (House location). 8. Participial modifiers from adjectives (Ways to learn the Korean language). 9. Instrumental postposition (Gifts). 10. Contrast and comparison (Traveling). 11. Indirect reported speech (Reporting what was said). 13. Informal speech (Conversations with friends) These outcomes are achieved by submitting written essays, absorbing the material provided during the face-to-face contact hours, and by supplementing it with additional individual studies.

Assesment Criteria

Ability to explain the Korean culture through the prism of language and everyday communication. Ability to describe the Korean cultural peculiarities and their development. Ability to speak the Korean language in the A2 level proficiency.
