International Business Law

Description

The purpose of the course is to provide students with theoretical knowledge of the basic principles of international business law; legal regulation of foreign investments in Lithuania and opportunities for establishing and conducting business in the EU and to consolidate the practical skills required for further studies and professional activities. The study methods of the subject include interpretation, illustration, case study, problem solving, performance of practical tasks. After completing this course, students will be able to apply the legal norms of international business law and use them in practice.

Aim of the course

Prerequisites

Fundamentals of Business and Public Management. Business law. Foreign language.

Course content

1. International business law as a branch of law. 2. The relationship between international and national law in business. 3. Legal regulation of foreign investments in Lithuania 4. Peculiarities of concluding international business agreements and legal regulation. 5. Legal regulation of business opportunities and the procedure of establishment and conduct of business in separate EU countries. 6. Legal protection of intellectual property in Lithuania, the European Union and the world. 7. Legal regulation of employment of foreigners in Lithuania. 8. Requirements and procedures for the employment of persons from third countries. 9. Employment opportunities in the European Union and social security for nationals of the Member States. 10. Dispute resolution procedure in Lithuania and EU countries.

Assesment Criteria

1. The components of international business law and the main Lithuanian international legal acts related to the establishment and development of business not only in Lithuania but also in foreign countries are described and explained. 2. Business opportunities in EU countries are analysed and evaluated. 3. The main terms of international business agreements are analysed and evaluated. 4. The legal regulation of intellectual property protection has been assessed. 5. The main methods of dispute resolution between business entities are selected, presented and analysed.
