Theories and Methodology of International Relations
Description
Objective of the course is to analyse theoretical reflection of IR. The main clasical paradigms and the newest approaches to IR phenomenon are studied. Students are learning to apply theoretical approaches as a methodological tools of analysis in their reserach works. Teaching is based on interactive methods: seminars-discussions, essays writing and their presentation, discussions on diferent approaches validation to the research works in IR field.

International relations object of academical reflection; The formation of international relations discipline; Clasical realism and neorealism; Pliuralism ; Globalism; Construktyvism and its impact on IR studies; English school in IR; Critical theory in IR; The place of normative theory in IR studies; Impact of poststructuralism on IR discipline development; Feminism and green theory in IR Studies; Postcolonialism; Methodological debates; IR studies in the contecst of social sciences.
Assesment Criteria
Students know the variety of contemporary international relations theories, their sources and discourse.
Students can analyse analyze works of international relations’ scientists from the critical perspective.
Students are able to recognise and critically evaluate new rising approaches in IR studies.
Students can to apply the theories as a tool of scientific research.
