Sound Recording Design
Description
The course consolidates the individual students’ development to this point and facilitates the production of professional standard recordings. The students will be able to apply innovative creative strategies in music production.

To consolidate recording skills, required for production of professional standard recordings.

For Art students only.
Course content
1.	Specialised use of Digital Audio Workstations
2.	Types and selection of microphones
3.	Types and selection of virtual instruments and samples
4.	Setting track tempo, timestretching and pitch-shifting 
5.	Equalisation, reverb and delay plug-in effects
6.	Use of compressors and limiters
7.	Rendering audio files
8.	Reflective journalling
9.	Note-taking, studio log
10.	Critical listening, production comparison and technical analysis
Assesment Criteria
Independently created professional standard recording for a specific purpose and end user, utilising substantial microphone captured sound. Clearly formulated and practically applied specific production values, with consideration if appropriate of musical elements such as timing, tuning, vocal performance and instrumental technique. Professionally accomplished mastering of recording, using either software or hardware reasonably. Critical reflection of skills, knowledge and critical analysis development and further study plan, based on that reflection.
