German at Work C1.1
Description
Students develop advanced (C1.1.) German language competence through reception (listening and reading comprehension), production and interaction (speaking and writing), and mediation (translation) language activities. Learners continue to improve their phonological, orthographic, grammatical and lexical competencies, analyse presentation techniques, and learn to critically evaluate, give reasons, and use the technique of essay organization at C1.1 level. A mixed form of study is applied: group work, role-plays, discussions, text analysis, work in MOODLE virtual environment (synchronous/asynchronous consultations, discussion forums, interactive tasks), independent work by practically applying theoretical material.
Aim of the course
To develop general and work related German competences, communicative language competences (linguistic (grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, orthography), sociolinguistic and pragmatic and communicative language activities: production, interaction and mediation (oral and written) at the advanced level (C1.1).
Prerequisites
Competence in German at B2 level.

Assesment Criteria
Correctly uses grammatical structures, lexical units and pronunciation and intonation patterns appropriate to level C1.1.
2. Expresses ideas freely and argumentatively on given topics, giving reasoned opinions and debating.
3. Understands the basic principles of the work environment, uses professional terms in practice and analyses authentic professional situations.
4. Reads and critically evaluates different types of concrete and abstract texts, using a variety of reading techniques.
5. Participates in discussions, reacts critically and analytically to an event or problem, argues ideas, formulates and justifies personal opinions, interacts with an audience, asks and answers questions, uses professional language correctly.
6. Writes essays correctly, makes arguments, supports ideas with examples, explanations and comments, compares and justifies phenomena, describes situations and recounts events in writing.
