Chinese Language and Culture (3)
Description
In this level students will learn about 250 new characters, at least 350 new vocabulary words and 40 new grammatical structures. With words learned in levels 1 and 2 (which will be incorporated in new texts designated for learning new words) it will be a total of about 1000 vocabulary words and 750 characters. Students will learn new grammatical constructions, improve their reading, writing and listening skills, as well as learn new forms of dialogue construction and participation in a conversation. Learning material is organized in three major topics consisting of four lessons each. First topic: Daily Life (past tense (1); structure hai mei(you)...ne; past tense (2); structure V+le+V; structure le...jiu...; verb as attributive; structure suiran...danshi; expressing repeated action with you, zai, xia, ci; adverb haishi). Second topic: Campus Life (expressing a period of time; expressing the duration of an action; structure duo(me)...a; expressing approximate numbers; separable words (liheci); structures with yiqian and yihou; structures with cai and jiu; structure yinwei...suoyi; structure haoji/duo; resultative complement (1); resultative complement (2); resultative complement (3)). Third topic: Transportation and Travel (future tense structures with kuaiyao/kuai/jiuyao...le; structure yaoshi(dehua)...jiu...; comparative sentence with bi (2, 3); ne and jiu used for emphasis; structure V+guo; verb measure words ci and bian; complement of frequency; structure shi...de; structure yi...jiu).
