1. Introduction to cooperatives: cooperation and collective action; cooperative values and principles; history of cooperative movement.
2. Different types of cooperatives: different theoretical perspectives on cooperatives: institutional economics, transaction costs, agency theory.
3. Governance of organisations and cooperative governance, inherent problems of cooperatives.
4. Vertical markets.
5. Market failures.
6. Agricultural cooperatives and industrial organisation of agri-food system.
7. Institutional, economic, policy and legal contexts for cooperatives.
8. Institutional economics; contract theory, network theory, agency theory.
