1. Demonstrate knowledge of principles of good research design.
2. Identify different quantitative and qualitative research methods.
3. Identify and communicate their research problem.
4. Select, provide an overview and references for scientific literature relevant for their research topic.
5. Formulate their research strategy.

7. Evaluate, select and apply appropriate data and methods for the research.

1. Defining the characteristics of scientific and applied research.
2. Planning of research process.
3. Formulating research problem.
4. Search and review of scientific literature.
5. Choosing research design.
6. Different types of data and data collection.
7. Quantitative methods and data analysis: descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, econometrics, clustering methods.
8. Qualitative methods and data analysis: literature review, interviewing, focus groups, content analysis, grounded theory.
9. Presentation of research.
10. Research ethics.
