Dalyko anotacija lietuvių kalba

Kursas supažindina studentus su tarptautinės prekybos teorija ir politika.
Pirmoji kurso dalis skirta paaiškinti prekybos priežastis ir naudą, remiantis klasikinėmis ir neoklasikinėmis teorijomis, pagrįstomis absoliutaus ir lyginamojo pranašumo principu, taip pat naujausias teorijas susijusias su produktų diferencijavimu ir kt.
Antroji kurso dalis skirta analizuoti skirtingų prekybos politikos instrumentų efektyvumą įvairios konkurencijos sąlygomis, paaiškinti prekybos politikos politinę ekonomiją, preferencinių prekybos susitarimų naudą, bei tarptautines organizacijas, formuojančias tarptautinės prekybos teisinį reglamentavimą ir normas. Taip pat bus analizuojamas PPO Dohos derybų raundas, ir šių daugiašalių prekybos liberalizavimo poveikis globaliai prekybos sistemai. Atskirai bus analizuojama ES bendroji prekybos politika, jos raida ir iššūkiai.
Pagrindinis kurso tikslas – suprasti ir mokėti paaiškinti nuolat besikeičiančios pasaulio ekonominės sistemos kompleksiškumą, gebėti analizuoti aktualiausias tarptautinės prekybos problemas ir iššūkius.

Dalyko anotacija užsienio kalba

This course provides students with an introduction into the theory and policy of international trade.
The first part of the course explains reasons and gains from trade using classical and neoclassical trade theories based on absolute and comparative advantage as well as more recent theories based on increasing returns, product differentiation and demand similarity.
The second part investigates effectiveness of various trade policy instruments under perfect and imperfect competition, explains the political economy of trade policy and the role of preferential trading arrangements and international trade organizations in shaping the contemporary patterns of international trade. It will also cover the ongoing Doha Round of multilateral trade negotiations and its implications for the future of the global trading system. A specific emphasis will be made on the EU economic diplomacy (external trade policy), its developments and challenges.
The main goal of the course is to understand the complexity of the changing world economy and analyze actual problems in international trade.

Studijų rezultatų vertinimas

The final grade will be a weighted average of mid-term test (20%), seminar presentation (10%), assignment paper (20%) and final exam (50%).
