Dalyko anotacija lietuvių kalba

Kursas supažindina studentus su daugiakalbystės samprata, pagrindinėmis sąvokomis, terminais ir tyrimo kryptimis. Kurso metu analizuojama ir aptariama Europos tautų istorinė raida, jų kalbiniai ir kultūriniai pokyčiai, akcentuojama šių pokyčių įtaka šiandieniniam Europos sociolingvistiniam kontekstui. Studentai analizuoja daugiakalbystės politikos gaires formuojančius Europos Sąjungos dokumentus, juos kritiškai vertina, atsižvelgdami į nacionalinį ir tarptautinį kontekstą. Kurso metu analizuojami kalbų dominavimo klausimai, „didžiųjų“ kalbų įtaka daugiakalbystės politikos formavimo atžvilgiu, globalios anglų kalbos poveikis, kalbų ekonominė (rinkos) vertė ir simbolinė galia. Nagrinėjami kultūriniai ir sociopolitiniai veiksniai, darantys ar galintys daryti įtaką asmens tapatybei bei kalbų ekologijos problemos, mažumų ir migrantų kalbų išlaikymas ir praradimo grėsmė švietimui ir daugiakalbių vaikų mokymui keliamų iššūkių kontekste. Studentai atliks tyrimo projektą, kurio tikslas – gilinti teorines žinias ir politinių, edukacinių, ekonominių ir sociokultūrinių daugiakalbystės aspektų supratimą, analizuojant ir įvertinant daugiakalbystę pasirinktoje Europos šalyje. Dalyko anotacija užsienio kalba

The course introduces the main concepts of multilingualism and provides the wide range of definitions revealing the complicated nature of the phenomenon. It provides knowledge on historical developments of the European nations, their linguistic and cultural changes and emphasizes the historical relevance to the present situation in Europe. The critical study of materials and evaluation include documentation on the EU policy on multilingualism while placing policy issues in the context of national and institutional perspectives. Due attention is given to the analysis of economic value of languages, the impact of global English as well as the role of other “big” languages in Europe and across the globe. The course will focus on examining cultural and socio-political factors that may influence or even determine person’s identity; In addition, the issues in language ecology, minority/ migrant language loss, development and maintenance of languages will be discussed in the context of challenges set for educational sector and the schooling of multilingual children. The students will perform a research project, analysing and interpreting multilingualism in different European countries; thus, acquiring deeper theoretical knowledge and understanding of political, educational, economic and socio-cultural aspects of multilingualism.

Dalyko studijų rezultatai

1.1. In-depth knowledge of sociolinguistics and multilingualism of a specific geopolitical area, namely Northern Europe including Baltic states, Germany, and Scandinavian countries.
2.1. Ability to reason, to identify and use analysis tools as well as to think creatively in appraising any current policies in the field of bilingualism/ multilingualism and to propose improvements.
3.1. Ability to critically analyze the various factors involved in the study of bilingualism/ multilingualism and to relate those factors to national and international contexts.
4.1. Ability to gather and process sociolinguistic data and use it to produce projects, manage mediations, and draw up assessment reports at the request of interested parties.
