Social Work Theoretical Models
Description
The course is designed to deepen the theoretical knowledge of social work by delving into the theoretical models and perspectives of social work, on the basis of which social work intervention strategies are applied in practice. To analyze the process of social work on the basis of different theoretical models and perspectives, to anticipate the possibilities of applying the chosen theoretical model of social work taking into account the client's needs and goals of assistance. Critically examine the possibilities of applying theoretical models of social work in the current Lithuanian social system; to integrate the theoretical knowledge gained during lectures in social work practice.
Aim of the course
Deepen knowledge of the theoretical models of social work in social work practice and be able to analyze the social work process by adapting different theoretical models and perspectives, providing opportunities for the application of theoretical models of social work in the current Lithuanian social system.

The importance of theoretical models of social work for the development of social work practice;
Psychodynamic theoretical application of the elements of the model in social work practice;
Implementation of the behavioral theory model in social work practice;
The cognitive theory model and its principles in social work practice;
A practical model of crisis intervention and its application in crisis situations;
Ecological systems theory model;
An existential perspective in social work;
Solution-focused social worker support;
Narrative in social work practice;
Perspectives on empowerment and resilience in social work practice;
The development of contemporary theories and their application in social work practice;
Feminist social work and other contemporary theoretical perspectives in social work.
Assesment Criteria
Described and presented one chosen theoretical model of social work.
Analyzed social work process of 1 case according to 3 theories applied in social work practice.
Described needs of clients together with their support opportunities applying a chosen theoretical model.
Together with a group prepared review reflecting application opportunities of theoretical social work models.
