Description

Course provides information and knowledge about digital sound technology. Considered application areas include digitization of sound, sampling, DSP, audio editing, mixing, MIDI technologies, surround sound, audio interfaces, digital audio formats, codecs, etc.

Aim of the course

To provide skills for audio recording, editing, processing, combining with video and publishing in multimedia projects.

1. Course overview. 2. Digital Sound Parameters and Methods. 3. Audio File Formats (Codecs) and Audio File Editing. 4. Sound Recording Techniques: Microphones, Voice Recording Techniques. 5. Sound Recording Techniques: Various Sources, Signal Path Connections (Hardware), Foley. 6. Sound Recording and Exporting: Signal Path Software Connections, Mixing Console Parameter Adjustment. 7. Sound Arrangement: MIDI Concept and Connections, Sampling. 8. Sound Arrangement: Audio Time Editing and Automation, Destructive Audio Effects, Sound Volume and Pitch Editing and Automation. 9. Sound Arrangement: MIDI Parameter Editing, Basics of Arrangement (Audio+MIDI) Practices. 10. Collective Listening and Evaluation Session of Sound Clips Created During the Course. 11. Project Management, Importance of Ideas. Introduction to Gantt Chart, S.M.A.R.T. Goals, SWOT, Trello, Notion, Milanote. 12. Synthesis: Sound Generators. Sound Design and Modulation Using LFO (Low-Frequency Oscillation). 13. Sound and Music Analysis and Utilization in Various Genres and Scenarios. 14. Mixing. Guidelines and Tools for Shaping Three-Dimensional Sound Field: Dynamics (Attack and Sustain) Adjustment. 15. Video and Audio Integration, Shaping Sound (Loudness) for Online Media.

Assesment Criteria

1. Ability to edit audio recordings. The files exported from the audio montage deliver high-quality audio, and the files are uploaded to the Cloud without errors. 2. Ability to record, edit and mix audio. Voice recorded with microphone adequately conveys text, voice is recognized, sound panoramas are extended (sounds in stereo acoustic environment). 3. Ability to create sound clips and sound effects for online distribution. The audio clip uploaded to the cloud is of high quality sound, has a narrative solution, and meets today's online listening expectations. 4. Ability to create a music sample with a sampler and / or synthesizer. The given example is musically developed using aesthetically based musical sounds. 5. Ability to plan and create an image-adequate soundtrack. Audio solutions respond to video dynamics, compete, and support the change and nature of video scenes. The creative goals of the soundtrack are adapted to the image, the creative process is performed adequately.
