Crop Harvesting Machinery
Description
The course aims to advance students’ knowledge on the classification, structure and operation of modern agricultural equipment and harvesting machinery, types of the machine structural components, integrating theoretical studies with developing practical skills through modern farming activities and innovate agriculture practices.
Aim of the course
The student will be able to know classifications of crop harvesting machinery, constructions and possibilities to use the machinery, basic theoretical aspects of calculation the machinery working parts and to select the crop harvesting technologies and machinery, to regulate, care and perform simple works of working parts design.
Prerequisites
The subjects of the main field of study and related subjects should be taken: Mathematics, Physics, Information Technologies, Theoretical Mechanics, Materials Science, Fluid Mechanics, Mechatronics, Transport and Power Machines, Basics of Agronomy and Ecology, Earth Tillage Technologies.
Course content
Grass forage harvesting machinery. Cereal combines harvesters and theoretical aspects of cereals harvesting engineering and their practical implementation. Cereals harvesting quality. Sugar beet and potato harvesting machinery. Basics of the theory of potatoes and root crop harvesting. Cleaning machinery and basics of the theory of cleaning machinery.
Assesment Criteria
1. Knowledge of harvesting technologies, ability to select and apply them
2. Knowledge of the types and operation of working parts of crop harvesting machines, ability to evaluate them
3. Quality of performance of laboratory works and exercises and preparation and presentation of reports
4. Compliance of the course project with the formulated task and completeness of performance
