Structural Functionalism (T.Parsons, R.Merton); Neofunctionalism; J.Alexander) Conflict and neoconflict theory (R.Darendorf, L.Coser, R.Collins); Symbolic Interactionism (H.Blumer) and dramaturgical theory (E.Goffman); Exchange theory ( G.Homans, P.Blau); Rational choice theory; Ethnomethodology (H.Garfinkel); Phenomenological sociology (P.Berger), Neo-Marxian Theory/Critical Theory; Agency-Structure (Giddens & Habermas);

To study the contemporary sociologycal theories, to apply it to analysis of modern society

Assesment Criteria

Students define the sociological concepts and present the contemporary modern sociological theories. Students apply contemporary modern sociological theories for the analysis of social issues. Students apply vocational terminology in spoken and written lithuanian language. Students analyse the conection between the social context and human social behaviour, explain social behaviour and social relations, social reasons. . Students identify the social problems, critically analyse the processes in the social groups and reasoned validate the jugdement of the social problems. Students present and comunicate with vocational and amatuer audience.
