Basics of Audiovisual Art

Description

The aim of the subject is to study the field of audiovisual art, relations with new media art trends and technologies, main contemporary art concepts, artists' expressions and current topics. During the course, students will learn to distinguish the types of audiovisual art, they will learn the psychological, social, technical and cultural contexts of audiovisual art. In the course of the subject, you learn to explain the relationship between the form and resolution of a work of art. Creative and managerial aspects of audiovisual art are analyzed. Audiovisual art forms in Lithuania and the world are analyzed. Photo, computer graphics, illustration, video, cinema, sound, interactive and other works of art are analyzed and discussed during the course.

Aim of the course

To introduce, teach to recognize, analyze and evaluate works of audiovisual art, their socio-cultural and technological aspects in the context of contemporary art.

Resolution and technologies of audiovisual art. 5. Audiovisual art in the context of modern media art. 6. Video recording methods and technologies. 7. Photographic technology and its resolution. 8. Technologies of moving images - from animation to cinematography. 9. Animation resolution and technologies. 10. Cinematographic resolution and technologies. 11. Video resolution and technology. 12. The computer as an engine of audiovisual and media art. 13. Application of computer technologies in artistic expression. 14. Application of computer technologies in artistic expression - from hardware to software. 15. Critical evaluation of audiovisual and media art production.

Assesment Criteria

1. Recognizes, analyzes, explains audiovisual and media art forms. 2. Analyzes and discusses aspects of technology application in audiovisual art. 3. Purposefully chooses and experiments with modern art technologies to create a unique expression and applies them to convey creative ideas. 4. Researches and explains the relations between audiovisual art and modern media production, resolution and technologies. 5. Reveals the social, cultural and creative industries contexts of audiovisual art and media production.
