Basic of Business and Public Management
Description
Subject studies provide knowledge about business and public organizational management methods and functions, forming managerial skills for self-employment. In this subject we are taught to recognize the contemporary problems of management science in organizations and to offer innovative solutions to solve problems. The main study methods – discussions, question and answer presentation, case study analysis, problem based solving.
Aim of the course
To provide knowledge about the management methods and functions of organizations in different sectors, to help students acquire the ability to apply various organizational management tools in changing environmental conditions.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of subjects of secondary school: Mathematics, Psychology, Economics and Enterpreneurship
Course content
1. The essence, object and subjects of management science. Historical development of management theories. Differences and similarities of Business and Public Management.
2. Concept of organization. Stages of organizational development. Criteria that determine the type of organization.
3. Types of organizations, their management methods and functions. Private (business) sector organizations. Public sector organizations. Non-governmental sector organizations.
4. Concept of goals and their role in the organization. Formation
of goals and objectives. Classification of Goals. Goal Hierarchy (Goal Pyramid).
5. Concept, types and principles of planning process and plans. Vision and mission of the organization. Planning barriers. Working time planning.
6. The concept of organization process and its goals. Employee management levels. Organizing Organization Management. Ways of depicting structures. Centralization and
decentralization.
7. Concept and types of motivation and motivation process. Motives, needs and interests of employees' activities. Means and techniques of employee motivation
8. Concept of leadership process and delegation of powers. Leadership styles and their compatibility. Tools and Techniques for Effective Leadership.
9. Concept, functions and types of control process. Principles of effective control.
Assesment Criteria
Criteria for threshold achievement level:
1. Defined the historical forms of the organization and its life stages was performed.
2. Defined management functions of private, public and non-governmental sector organizations has been performed and substantiated.
3. Defined principles of formation of strategic, tactical and operational objectives / plans in the context of accounting and finance.
4. Identification of employee management levels and their positions, substantiating the example of visualized organizational management structure.
5. The analysis of motivation and motivation process stages is done and the employee motivation system in different sectoral organizations is based.
6. The components of leadership styles are defined and their meaning is justified.
7. A comparative analysis of the types of controls has been carried out to underpin the operation of the established control process.
