Augmented Reality Engineering

Description

The aim of the subject is to provide theoretical and practical knowledge about augmented and its real-world applications. Students analyze how to create augmented reality scenes using two and three-dimensional targets, multiple markers or markerless AR. During laboratory and individual work, augmented reality applications for mobile devices, augmented reality environments and games are designed and implemented.

Course aims at providing theoretical and practical knowledge about augmented reality and its practical applications in industry, services and other fields.

Prerequisites

Fundamentals of Programming, Coding of Virtual Environments and Computer Games

Course content

1. Hardware and software for the AR development. 2. AR applications. 3. AR creation with one or multiple 2D and 2D targets. 4. Markerless AR. GroundPlane and MidAir AR solutions. 5. Interaction with AR objects and scenes. 6. Multimedia projects.

Assesment Criteria

1. Ability to analyze and evaluate the development of virtual and augmented reality technologies; 2. Ability to explain the principles of AR development, AR technical solutions; justify the expediency of the chosen solution; 3. Ability to analyze, compare and substantiate selected AR technologies, methods, tools and instruments; 4. Ability to chose appropriate software and hardware tools for the implementation of an augmented reality project 5. Ability to create, prepare and implement creative multimedia projects; 6. Ability to specify and present the individual assignment and/or multimedia project to the teacher and other learners.
