Russian Language C1
Description
The course of the Russian Language level C1 is designed for students who wish to improve and refine their knowledge of the language. The students will become familiar with all the registers of the Russian language (scientific propose, official documents, mass-media language, literary language, colloquial style) to cope with complex situations of communication both in writing and in oral settings, as well as to expand their communication skills through conversation including analysis of errors and strategies to improve oral performance. Special attention will be paid to the use of figurative, metaphorical, and idiomatic expressions of the Russian language. This course also aims to provide students with a cultural and updated overview of relevant aspects of the social and cultural reality of Russia. The form of studies includes lectures, seminars, self-study tasks and work in Sanako lab and virtual Moodle environment (online work, synchronous and asynchronous conversations and discussion forums, interactive tests and exercises). After finishing Level C1 of the Russian Language students will be able to understand a wide range of long and complex texts, recognizing implicit meaning. They can express themselves fluently and spontaneously without obviously fumbling for words. In addition, they can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic, and professional purposes. They can also produce a clear, well-structured, and detailed text on complex subjects.
Aim of the course
To develop linguistic communicative competence, which includes linguistic, pragmatic, and sociolinguistic components, through reception (listening and reading comprehension), production and interaction (speaking and writing) and mediation (translation) linguistic activities at the advanced level (C1).
Prerequisites
Competence in Russian at B2 level.

2. The concept of syntactic impersonality.
3. Indirect speech.
4. Features of the use of direct and figurative meanings in various registers.
5. Eternal companions of the man.
6. Future technologies.
7. The formation and use of the participle (in written language).
8. Short forms of adjectives and participles.
9. Cultural interests of representatives of different social strata.
10. Complex cases of verb government and the declension of nouns and numerals.
11. Perfective and imperfective aspects of verbs (????, ??????, ?????, etc.) (complex cases).
12. Gerund constructions.
13. Life without money. Fashion a la russe.
14. The history and role of invectives.
15. Movement verbs with figurative meaning.
16. Prepositions (??, ??, ??, ????, ??, ??, ??,?, ???, ??, ??, ???, ?, ???) and the reflexive suffix.
17. Means of artistic expression.
18. Phraseologisms, proverbs, sayings.
19. Numerals: complex cases.
Assesment Criteria
A student understands an advanced monologue corresponding to level C1 on abstract and complex topics (not related to a student's specialty), even if its structure is not completely clear, as well as the conversation between native speakers on abstract and complex topics and program recordings, even if the interlocutors do not speak a standard language, and understands the implication.
A student reads and understands in detail long and complex texts, in terms of structure or language, of different types of specific and abstract content and uses different reading techniques.
A student speaks grammatically correctly, clearly, fluently, and freely, by choosing appropriate linguistic means for academic, social, and professional purposes. A student demonstrates appropriate speaking skills while working in a team, participating in a discussion, or speaking to an audience. A student is able to paraphrase, to use phraseologisms and colloquial expressions.
A student writes, in accordance with spelling and punctuation rules, a clear, appropriately composed, detailed text on complex topics, following the requirements of style, and is be able to critically analyze, summarize graphic and visual information.
