Forest Mensuration

Description

The Forest Mensuration course provides comprehensive theoretical knowledge on the methods for measuring trees, stands, and forest products, along with increment assessment. The course covers the selection of suitable measurement techniques for determining volume, diameter, height, and other dendrometric parameters, as well as the application of modern technologies in field measurements and forest inventory. Upon completion, students will be equipped to independently evaluate forest resources and perform detailed analyses of stands, timber, and growth increments.

Aim of the course

The aim of the Forest Mensuration course is to teach students how to assess stands through forest measurements, enabling them to determine key dendrometric indicators such as age, stem diameter, height, stand density, site quality, and species composition, as well as to calculate timber volume and increment. Forest Mensuration serves as a methodological foundation for all further studies in forest science and forestry, as no forest measurements or scientific research can be conducted without it.

Prerequisites

Dendrology, forest ecology, soil science, forest botany, forest typology, applied statistics.
