Research Methods in Social Anthropology
Description
The students are introduced to the main principles and methods of ethnographic fieldwork in anthropology. The students get acqainted to and practice such research methods as participant observation, observation, in depth interviewing, semi-structural interview, non structural interview, focus grouip interview, life story interview, visual documentation. The challenges and principles of research online are introduced. The students are taught how to prepare research project: to formulate research problem(s), identify research site(s), choose research methods, follow the research ethics requirements. Data analysis „on paper“ and also by using such qualitative data analysis programmes as Atlas.ti or Maxqda. The steps of presenting empirical materials in the text are introduced and practiced. Reflexivity of researher. The principles of ethics.
