Management of Innovations in Education

Description

The purpose of this course is to provide students with opportunities to prepare themselves to take up a position of an innovator and to initiate innovations that are valid for a specific context. Students are provided with opportunities to apply theories of innovation management, to implement theoretical provisions, to select an innovation valid for a particular educational context and to develop a projects for its implementation.

Aim of the course

To create conditions for students to learn to define the need for innovation in education, the conditions for implementation and the preconditions and readiness of personal commitment to innovation.

Introduction: education, change, innovation/novelty, and innovator. Definition of innovation. Managerial, socio-cultural, and psychological perspectives on innovation. Socio-cultural role of education and innovations: reproduction or development/advancement. Innovation theories. Types of innovations. Drivers and barriers of innovation. Radical, incremental and disruptive innovations. Product, service and process innovations in education. The states of participation of an educational organisation in the process of change: initiating change and responding to change, motivation for implementing innovation. Need for innovation: objective and subjective perspectives. Innovation in education in the 21st century. Ideas for innovation for a specific educational context. Innovation development methods: stage gate, phase review, PACE. Value creation chain. NABC. Strategies for implementing innovation. Management of innovations. Innovation strategies and plans. Monitoring of innovation projects. Innovation teams, leaders and champions. Innovativeness in the educational organisation. Formation of innovation culture in organisations. Assesment Criteria

An analysis of the need for innovation was performed in the work of the educational innovation project. Develop a logic matrix for an innovation project using value chain stages (NABC). The roles of the innovator in the context of education are defined, which are in line with the proposed strategies for the implementation of innovations. The work of the educational innovation project evaluates the idea of ??innovation and substantiates its constructiveness.
