Management of Education Organizations and Organizational Learning
Description
The course objective is to provide the students with opportunities to describe concepts of management of educational organization, and to analyse goals and objectives of an organization, students will be able to characterize management process, organizational structure, planning, strategic management, leadership, control, development, motivation. The students will have opportunities to learn to apply managerial techniques, to evaluate the influence of external environment of organization, to manage the planning process, strategize organization’s activity, and both to describe learning organization, and to plan development towards learning organization.
Aim of the course
The aim of the study subject is to create preconditions for students to acquire and develop management knowledge and skills of educational organizations.
Prerequisites
Basics of bachelor level management and education.
Course content
Concept and definition of education management. The relationship between educational management and general management. Specificity of an educational organization in the context of other organizations. Theoretical models of educational management.
Social partnership and participation of educational organizations. External relations of educational organization. Interest groups in education.
Knowledge management in an organization. Communication networks in an organization.
Human resources management. Staff planning, motivation, support.
Strategic management of educational organizations. Theoretical and practical foundations of strategic management of educational organizations. Development of educational organization strategy.
Principles of change in the organization of education. Possible forms of change at the organizational level (reconceptualization; restructuring; reorganization; network transformation). Strategic change management. Risk management in educational organizations.
Quality management of educational organizations. External and internal evaluation of educational organizations.
The concept of a learning organization. School as a learning organization. Learning communities for teachers.
