Description

The course will introduce with the impact of climate changes, urbanization and industrialization on the hydrological regime, as well as the management of flooding in built-up areas and the selection of environmental measures.

Aim of the course

The aim of the study subject is to provide knowledge about technical and engineering possibilities to arrange surface water drainage in cities or another urbanized territories.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of hydrology and hydrogeology, design of hydraulic structures, design of sewers is required.

Course content

The impact of urbanization and industrialization on the hydrological regime in the context of climate change. Flood management in built-up areas and selection of environmental measures. Drainage of urban areas. Drainage of special purpose in urban areas. Excessive drainage of water in recreational areas in cities. Drainage of flooded urban areas. Drainage of special purpose buildings in flooded urban areas. The discharge of groundwater in flooded recreational areas in cities also exceeded. Principles of design of hydraulic structures protecting urban areas from the harmful effects of water. Drainage schemes and design principles for intensive use areas.

Assesment Criteria

1. Evaluation of the content and quality of the performed practical tasks. 2. Demonstrate the ability to select appropriate measures to reduce the harmful effects of water on urban areas and perform their design calculations. 3. The ability to reveal the relevance of the chosen topic, the most important aspects, to formulate a summary is assessed during the seminars. 4. Knowledge and understanding of the impact of urbanization on the elements of the hydrological regime, technical and engineering possibilities to manage surface water drainage in urban areas are assessed.
