Korean Language and Culture (6)

Description

During this course, the students will continue working on the intermediate level basics they have attained in Level 5. They will develop their ability to read medium length compositions at an intermediate level, to use the intermediate level grammar, vocabulary, idiomatic expressions and proverbs. The students will work on their ability to understand all types of sentence, answer questions in verbal and written form, and discuss Korean everyday life topics. The course also aims to develop a deeper and wider understanding of Korean culture and society. Most of the course will be taught in Korean (with Lithuanian instruction where necessary).

Aim of the course

The aim of the course is to get the students acquainted with lower intermediate Korean vocabulary and grammar, encourage research, communication, and expression of one’s thoughts in the Korean language.

Course content

1. Reading and analysing various texts. 2. Topics for reading, discussion, and essays: it is important to apply the reading vocabulary in essays. 3. Dialogues and discussions. 4. Application of indirect speech in a compound sentence (Moving). 5. Combining short forms of indirect speech with -?/?/?? to express reason (Food). 6. Suggestions, aspects of complete action (Problem solving). 7. Indirect speech in dependent clauses of compound sentences (Cultural differences). These outcomes are achieved by submitting essays, reading provided material, and performing individual independent research outside of the class environment.

Assesment Criteria

Ability to explain the Korean culture through the prism of language and everyday communication. Ability to describe the Korean cultural peculiarities and their development. Ability to speak the Korean language in the B1 level proficiency. Ability to work in a team.
