Positive Psychology

Description

The course focuses on studying positive aspects of personality and their role in individual and community mental health promotion and prevention. Upon completion of this course students should be able to understand terms and definitions related to positive psychology, understand principles of positive psychology on the individual, interpersonal (social), institutional levels, i.e., positive emotions, humor, character strengths and virtues, subjective well-being, psychological well-being etc.

Aim of the course

To analyze aspects of positive functioning of an individual and the factors promoting personal and community psychological and social well-being.

• Is able to describe development, scope and methods of positive psychology; • Is able to describe and explain positive emotional states; • Is able to describe and explain positive personality characteristics; • Is able to describe and explain positive institutions; • A seminar (or other activity), based on positive psychology principles prepared and conducted to community;
