E-commerce Law

Description

The subject "Education Technology Law" is intended to discuss the peculiarities, law and relevant issues of the Internet based industry of buying and selling products or services via electronic means. During the course students are provided with the knowledge of separate legal institutes of e-commerce. Special attention is provided to online business establishment, e-contracts, protection of consumer rights, intermediary liability, e-payments, data protections and jurisdiction and applicable law.

Aim of the course

The aim of the course is to provide necessary knowledge and skills to understand e-commerce regulation, to know different legal institutes of e-commerce and their specific regulation; to be acquainted with peculiarities of various legal relations of e-commerce industry; be able to identify and solve problematic legal issues arising in e-commerce industry.

Course content

1.Introduction to the course. Terminology. Basics of national and EU e-commerce regulation. 2. Establishing an online business. 3. E-contracts. 4. Consumer rights protection. 5. Intermediary liability 6. E-payments. 7. Data protection in e-commerce. 8. Jurisdiction and applicable law.

Assesment Criteria

1. Is able to explain the essence and the purpose of e-commerce law. 2. Is able to name the scope and the elements of e-commerce law, knows e-commerce regulation. 3. Identifies legal issues of different e-commerce law elements and legal relations, suggests well-argued solution for a legal dispute. 4. Raises and discusses hypothesis, research aim and objectives in the field of e-commerce law. 5. Is able to find and critically evaluate informational sources and data, can provide a well-argued solution using relevant literature sources. 6. Is able to plan, organize and control individual activities and working hours, distribute and coordinate tasks, work independently and in a team, cooperate. 7. Is able to legally assess and solve legal conflicts, identify and analyze factual circumstances of a case, qualify actual behaviour and public relations established in the case from the legal point of view in the area of e-commerce law.
