APPLICATION AND ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Rules of Admission 2025

All applicants must fulfil general admission requirements and programme-specific requirements. Documents must meet country-specific requirements. (Please follow the requirements of the country you gained education).

1. Copy of High School / Bachelor / Master’s degree diploma and its supplement: minimum 60 % CGPA (Mark sheet / Transcript of Records / Diploma Supplement). Note! Minimum 55% CGPA for applicants from Algeria and Morocco.

  • Documents must be provided in the original language and be officially translated into English. The translation is official when it is bound together with a certified true copy of the original document and is confirmed by the translator's signature and/or the stamp.
  • Documents issued in English must be certified true copies and do not require translation.
  • Documents must be certified by a Notary and approved by an Apostille (for citizens of countries acceding to the 1961 Hague Convention), except documents issued in the countries from the European Union (EU), the UK, the USA, Canada, Ukraine or Moldova. For specific legalization requirements, please check the country-specific requirements.

Note (!) If the applicant is currently studying in the final year of school or university and their institution cannot issue a final graduation diploma before the application deadline, they must submit a recent Transcript of Academic Records and a Certificate indicating the student’s full name, surname, study year, study programme, date (year and month) of receiving a final secondary school certificate or final diploma. The applicant shall contact his/her school/ university and ask to issue the above-mentioned certificate in English.

Note (!) Please check the specific requirements for the following countries.

Important! Requirements for the documents:

  • All scans must be made from original documents (i.e., NOT copies), be in full colour, size, and be clear and legible;
  • Saved as JPEG or PDF files, document photos are not acceptable;
  • If there are multiple pages of a document, please save them together in one PDF file;
  • Organise your documents in a chronological order;
  • If you have attended multiple institutions, attach documents separately;
  • If you have multiple degrees, attach them separately.
  • Scans must be named understandably (i.e., secondary education; examination results; bachelor‘s degree; passport, etc.)

Note (!) Documents that do not meet above mentioned requirements will be disregarded, and the processing of the application will be suspended.

2. Proof of English proficiency: the applicant must present a recent and valid document proving proficiency in English at the B2 level (usually results are valid for 2 years; check validity period) if the applicant is not a native speaker and has not received an education in English. If education was received in English, the applicant must present an official document issued by a school, university.

The following certificates and scores are acceptable:

  • TOEFL 87-109 iBT/534-633 PBT;
  • IELTS 5,5–6,5;
  • Cambridge English First (FCE) 161-180;
  • BEC Vantage 161-180;
  • Michigan ECCE (min. 650);
  • PTE General Level 3;
  • PTE Academic 59;
  • TOEIC Listening & Reading 785, TOEIC Speaking & Writing 310;
  • Duolingo 100-125;
  • EnglishScore 400-499 (CoreSkills);
  • Cambridge IGCSE English First language (grade B);
  • Cambridge IGCSE English Second language (grade B).

Note (!): 

  • Applicants to the Bachelor‘s degree study programme Accounting and Finance (the first study year is taught in Ukrainian/Russian, and from the second-year language of instruction is English), have to present a document proving A2 level English proficiency.
  • Language certificate that does not meet the abovementioned requirements will be disregarded, and processing of the application will be suspended.
  • The university does not organise English language testing.
  • Students who start studies at Vytautas Magnus University having the English language competence B2 level shall achieve the Academic English level C1.

3. Self written Motivational Letter (1200-3000 characters).

4. Curriculum Vitae (Resume) in English.

5. Copy of passport.

Note (!) Both name and surname must be indicated in the passport.

The document should be valid for at least 2 years from the date of document submission for studies.

6. 1 recent photo (3×4 cm).

7. Coloured, digital copy of the document confirming the change of name and/or surname, if the documents certifying education were issued under a different name and/or surname.

8. Coloured, digital copy of Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) or Permanent Residence Permit (PRP) or Lithuanian national visa.

9. Documents proving national and international academic, sports, or artistic achievements.

Application to Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) is completely online (documents sent by e-mail are not evaluated). An online application will be processed only under the status “Submitted”, and when the application fee is paid and collected.

To proceed with your online application, you have to:

  1. Create an account in the online application platform DreamApply;
  2. Choose up to 2 study programmes within one application. The second study programme would be considered only in case you would not get an offer to the first one or would reject it. The application fee (non-refundable) covers the whole application, including application to 2 study programmes.
  3. Pay the Application fee (150 Eur, non-refundable). Payment information will be provided in the invoice issued in your online application platform account once you choose a study programme. Usually, it takes 2-3 working days for the transaction to reach the university’s account. Once the application fee is collected you are notified through DreamApply platform.
    Note (!)
    - Citizens of Ukraine are exempt from the application fee due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
    - Applicants to the joint Master‘s degree study programme Choreomundus – Erasmus Mundus Master in Dance and Movement as Practical Knowledge and Heritage are exempt from the application fee.
  4. Fill out the application form. Make sure you provide correct and detailed information. Provide a correct and personal e-mail address as well as an emergency contact to receive all the important information and check your application status.
  5. Upload all required application documents indicated in Step 2;
  6. Submit your application. You will be able to submit your application only after the application fee (150 Eur, non-refundable) is collected by the university. Usually, it takes 2-3 working days. By submitting the application, you confirm that the submitted documents are correct, truthful, and complete.

After a successful application submission, initial assessment of the application is carried out by the admission coordinator.

Applicants are invited to an initial motivational interview. Applicants might also be invited to take an online Mathematics knowledge and skills assessment test.

If the application complies with the requirements, educational documents will be processed for academic assessment and recognition, which is carried out within 20 working days after the submission of all required documents, including any additional documents that have been requested. If, after assessment, qualifications are considered to be equivalent to the education provided in the Republic of Lithuania, the application is considered further, and the final decision of admission is taken by the faculty Admission Commission of the respective study programme within 5 working days.

All accepted candidates receive a Letter of Acceptance with further instructions on how to finalize the admission. Applicants are requested to sign an online Agreement of Studies and to pay a full amount of the tuition fees for the first study year by deadline indicated in the invoice in one instalment (payment in several instalments is not acceptable).

Note (!) If the Agreement of Studies is not signed and payment of the tuition fees is not made by the indicated deadline, the application is terminated.

  • Non-EU/EFTA citizens arriving for full-time degree studies in Lithuania must apply for a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) through external service provider VFS Global.
    Note (!) The migration procedure is complex and the processing time of TRP is at least 2-3 months, therefore you must take that into consideration before applying to the university.
    Issued TRP is produced in Lithuania, Migration Department and sent by courier to VFS Global Centre for a pick-up what might take up to 2-3 additional weeks.
    Accepted candidates, who have signed the Agreement of Studies and have paid the tuition fees, are provided with a Mediation Letter to start the migration procedure. Accepted candidates are required to fill out an online application in the MIGRIS (Migration Department of Lithuania) platform, pay the fees, and book an appointment at the VFS Global Centre to submit the biometrics.
  • Citizens of EUEFTA countries may enter Lithuania and stay here for a period not exceeding 3 months without a permit. Citizens of EUEFTA accepted for full-time degree studies must apply for a Temporary Residence Certificate after arrival.

Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) provides international new incoming full-time students with the possibility to be accommodated in the university‘s dormitories.

Applications to book accommodation will be opened at the beginning of July, 2026. Booking is completely online following the link

Note (!) Applications will be opened only for international full-time Bachelor’s and Master’s students, who are accepted for studies in the academic year 2026-2027, have signed the Agreement of Studies and paid the tuition fee.

Note (!) Accommodation spots are limited due to high demand, therefore accommodation is not guaranteed. First come first served.

International Cooperation Department does not administer accommodation in the dormitories. All questions related to accommodation in the dormitories must be addressed to the Student Centre.
