(Updated on December 4, 2024)

In order to facilitate your successful arrival and registration, Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) has prepared the guiding steps which are necessary to follow after receiving the acceptance confirmation from VMU admission coordinator.

Before Arrival

If you are a non-EU/EFTA country citizen, you must apply for a Lithuanian Temporary Residence Permit or a Visa. More information about the application can be found here. VMU admission coordinators also provide details of the application.

Accepted international students can choose the most suitable OPTION OF HOUSING:

  • The VMU dormitory application will be open on December 15. From this date, new international students will be able to book a place of accommodation in VMU dormitories:
    • For the full-time degree students: on the website > Accommodation for others. NOTE: if you are redirected during the application, you will need to use your permanent VMU login credentials. For more information on how to reset it, please visit this link (username and password).
    • For the exchange programme/visiting students: on the website > VMU Students accommodationNOTE:
      • During the application please use your permanent VMU login credentials. You will receive a separate e-mail from VMU IT with the information on how to reset it. Also, you may visit this link (username and password) for more information.
      • Only those students who receive the e-mail from VMU IT about VMU login credentials are allowed to apply for the VMU dormitory accommodation. If you did not receive this e-mail, it means that your application for the exchange programme was late, and you will receive the login details later.

Room booking extension means that the accommodation fee will be counted from February 1 (or earlier if you arrive before this day).
  • Sign the online Agreement for Accommodation at epasirasymas.vdu.lt before your arrival.
  • Move into the dormitory (not earlier than January 15, after signing your Agreement for Accommodation).

VMU has a splendid mentor programme and is proud to be able to provide student mentors to our incoming exchange students. If you are interested in having a mentor, please follow the information on how you can register on The Buddy System platform. We kindly ask you to register for a mentor before January 15.

Before the beginning of every semester, we are inviting students to participate in the Survival Lithuanian course. This course introduces students to a very basic knowledge of Lithuanian that would help to “survive” in Lithuania. In this intensive course, students learn to introduce themselves, provide basic biographical information, ask for the prices while shopping, ask for directions, order food, and learn basic information about the university, as well as other useful everyday phrases in Lithuanian.

The duration of this course is only one week: January 27-31, 2025. This course has 2 ECTS.
The course is organised in two forms: online and onsite (you can choose).

Only those who register can participate. Students can choose the type of course: online or on-site.
