APPLICATION & ADMISSION

September intake, the academic year 2025-2026 is offered.

February intake is not offered.

As soon as the application opens and as early as possible. Please consider requirements, time spent preparing required educational documents, deadlines.

Application to VMU is completely online via the online application system DreamApply .

Documents sent by e-mail are not evaluated. An online application will be processed only under the status “Submitted” when all the required documents are attached, and the application fee is paid and collected before the corresponding deadline.

  • May 15, 2025: For applicants from non-EU/EFTA countries, except the countries listed below.
  • July 1, 2025: For applicants from EU/EFTA countries; For applicants and citizens of visa-free countries: Albania, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Georgia (Sakartvelo), Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Moldova, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, United Kingdom, United States, Ukraine, Venezuela.

VMU carries the recognition of foreign academic qualifications. The evaluation and academic recognition of foreign academic qualifications is the main step of the admission procedure. Therefore, all applicants must have their credentials recognized.

This process is carried out together with the application process after the applicant fully uploads and submits the required documents in a single application on the DreamApply application system.

  1. Copy of High School / Bachelor / Master’s degree diploma and its supplement: minimum 60 % CGPA  (Mark Sheet / Transcript of Records / Diploma Supplement).
  2. Proof of English proficiency B2 level. The following certificates and scores are acceptable:
    • TOEFL 87-109 iBT/ 534-633 PBT
    • IELTS 5,5-6,5
    • Cambridge English First (FCE) 161-180

VMU does not offer any preparatory programme or English language testing. Within the application to studies, the applicant must provide a valid English B2 level certificate.

  • All scans must be made from original documents (i.e., NOT copies), be in full colour, and be clear and legible;
  • Saved as JPEG or PDF formats, document photos are not acceptable;
  • If there are multiple pages of a document, please save them together in one electronic file;
  • Organize your documents in chronological order;
  • If you have attended multiple institutions, attach documents separately;
  • If you have multiple degrees, attach them separately.
  • Scans must be named understandably (secondary education; examination results; Bachelor‘s degree; passport, etc.)
  • Documents must be provided in the original language and translated into English. The translation is official when it is bound together with the certified true copy of the original document and is confirmed by the translator's signature.
  • Documents issued in English must be certified true copies and do not require translation.
  • Documents must be certified by a Notary, legalised and approved by an Apostille (for citizens of countries acceding to the 1961 Hague Convention), except documents issued in the countries from the European Union (EU), the UK, the USA, Canada, Ukraine, Moldova, or Russia.

You can choose up to 2 study programmes and submit your application. A second study programme would be considered only in case you do not get an offer to the first one or reject it. The application fee (150 Eur, non-refundable) covers the whole application, including application to 2 study programmes.

Applicants shall be at least 17 years old. In the case of 5 years study gap, applicants must take the VMU skills and knowledge test and (or) additional competence evaluation. Application must meet general application requirements, and programme-specific requirements, documents must meet country-specific requirements, and eligibility is considered based on qualification documents, academic results, motivation, CV, work/internship/volunteering experience and other noted requirements.

Check programme specific requirements listed under each programme description.  Students who chose another major must meet the prerequisites for a graduate programme. Those who did not take the prerequisite courses while earning their Bachelor's degree shall take them within 1st semester or during 1st study year of Master's degree programme (Can be up to 24 ECTS with additional cost).

VMU offers transfer to Bachelor‘s or Master‘s study programmes taught in the English language.

After successful application submission via the DreamApply online application system, the initial assessment of the application is carried out by admission coordinators.

If the submitted application complies with the requirements, educational documents will be processed for academic assessment and recognition which is carried out within 20 working days after the submission of all required documents, including any additional documents that have been requested. If, after assessment, qualifications are considered to be equivalent to the education provided in the Republic of Lithuania, the application is considered, and the final decision of admission is taken by the faculty Admission Commission of the respective study programme within 5 working days.

APPLICATION FEE, TUITION FEE & SCHOLARSHIPS

Application fee (150 Eur, non-refundable) must be paid by all applicants and it cannot be waived.

Except for Ukrainian citizens, they are exempt from the application fee payment due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

 An online application will be processed only after the application fee is collected and the required documents are submitted on the DreamApply application system.

If you have failed to pay the application fee (150 Eur, non-refundable) before the deadline stated in your invoice and have not submitted your application yet, you may pay the application fee and submit the application by the corresponding deadline for application – May 15th or July 1st.

Note (!) Late or incomplete applications are not processed.

The tuition fee payment for the first study year must be paid in one instalment and by the indicated deadline in your invoice. The payments from the second year are divided for each semester and can be paid in instalments.

Scholarship possibilities are listed here --> VMU Admission scholarships. To apply for a scholarship, applicants must apply for a study programme first and get a Letter of Acceptance / Letter of Conditional Acceptance.

Applications for scholarships are opened only for applicants who meet eligibility requirements.

MIGRATION PROCEDURE

Non-EU/EFTA citizens coming for full-time degree studies in Lithuanian must apply for a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) through external service provider VFS Global.

Note (!) The migration procedure is complex and the processing time of TRP is 2-3 months, therefore you must take that into consideration before applying to university.

Issued document of TRP is produced in Lithuania, Migration Department and sent by courier to VFS Global Centre for a pick-up, this might take up to 2-3 weeks additionally.

Admitted students, who have signed the Agreement of Studies and have paid the tuition fee for the first study year, are provided with Mediation for the TRP number by the university to start the migration procedure. Admitted students are requested to fill out an application in MIGRIS (Migration Department of Lithuania), pay the migration fee, book and an appointment at VFS Global to submit the biometrics.

Citizens of EUEFTA countries may enter Lithuania and stay here for a period not exceeding 3 months without a permit. Citizens of EUEFTA admitted for full-time degree studies must apply for a Temporary Residence Certificate after arrival.

Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) must be provided from the country where you have lived for more than 6 months in the last 2 years. The certificate must be legalised in one of the following ways:

  • certified with an Apostille (if the state that issued the certificate is a member of the Hague Convention);
  • double legalised (if the country issuing the certificate is not a member of the Hague Convention and is not included in the list of parties to the Hague Convention). Such certificates must be legalised twice: with the first stamp of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that issued the certificate and the second stamp of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania.

ACCOMMODATION & COST OF LIVING

VMU provides international new incoming full-time students with the possibility to be accommodated in the university‘s dormitories.

Applications to book accommodation will be opened in the beginning of July. Booking is completely online following the link.

Applications will be opened only for international full-time Bachelor’s and Master’s students, who are accepted for studies in academic year 2025-2026, have signed Agreement of Studies and paid tuition fee for the first study year.

CAREER

International students have the right to work while studying in Lithuania as long as they are enrolled in university. EU students can work full-time, meaning up to 40 hours per week. International Bachelor’s and Master’s students from non-EU countries can also work up to 40 hours per week after obtaining a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP).

International students have an opportunity to stay in the country for 12-15 months afterwards to look for a job.

 

VMU Career Centre, which is a subdivision of the Student Affairs Department, provides many services and opportunities for students and recent graduates such as career counselling, assistance in the preparation of Curriculum vitae (CV), assistance get ready for a job, internship and volunteering interviews, various events on career counselling: practical seminars, lectures, meetings with employers, “Career days”, etc. For more information about job, internship or volunteering offers check the VMU Career Centre website.
