ADMISSION

As soon as application opens and as earlier as possible. Please pay attention to the time spent for the preparation of required educational documents, for registration and passing the English test, for writing your motivational letter and CV.

Filling in an online application form, applicants may indicate 2 selected study programmes in descending order of priority.

VMU has two intakes per year: Autumn Intake and Spring intake.

The main one is Autumn Intake. Autumn Intake, academic year 2024-2025, will be launched in January 2024. The semester starts in September 2024.

The second intake is Spring Intake. Spring intake, academic year 2023-2024 will be opened on October 1, 2023. The semester starts in February 2024.

Application fee is 100 Eur and is non-refundable. Application fee payment information will be provided in the invoice issued in your online application system account. An online application will be processed only under the status “Submitted” when all the required documents are attached, the application fee is paid and collected.

Students can apply for the Scholarship after they get an acceptance letter to study at VMU. You would have to meet the criteria to be under consideration:

  • Meet the University’s academic requirements and your Grade Point Average (GPA) is not lower than 8 out of 10.
  • Meet English language entry requirements.
  • Hold an offer for a full-time Bachelor or Master Programme at Vytautas Magnus University.

Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) provides international students with the possibility to transfer unfinished degree studies in other Universities to VMU.
Please note that the courses have to match the programme at VMU.

Please check the Rules for admission 2023. Especially pay attention to the Admission Requirements and Calculation of the Admission Score - Annex 2, page 6). Eligibility is considered based on application and qualification documents, academic results, motivation, CV, work/internship/volunteering experience.

Applicants shall be at least 17 years old. There is no maximum age limit for enrolling at university, however eligibility is considered based on application and qualification documents, academic results, motivation, CV, work/internship/volunteering experience.

Students who chose another major may still meet the prerequisites for a graduate programme. Those who didn't take the prerequisite courses while earning their Bachelor's degree can take them in preparation for beginning a Master's degree program.

The tuition fee payment for the first year of studies has to be done during the admission procedure. The payments from the second year are parted for each semester and can be paid by instalments.

DOCUMENTS

    1. Copy of High School / Bachelor / Master’s degree diploma and its supplement (Transcript of Records / Mark sheet);
    2. Proof of English proficiency;
    3. Motivational Letter;
    4. Curriculum Vitae (Resume);
    5. Copy of passport or another document of identification;
    6. 1 recent photo (3×4 cm)

The passport should be valid at least least 2 years from the date of document submission for studies.

  • For Bachelor’s degree applications: High School Graduation Certificate (or its equivalent) with grades.
  • For Master’s degree applications: Bachelor’s Degree Diploma (or its equivalent) with grades.

If you are a non-EU applicant, you shall apply for a Temporary Residence Permit before arrival. More information here.

You have to show proof of English Proficiency General Requirements (B2 level) which could be an official document from an official institution showing you had courses in English or studied the English language.

The following certificates and scores are acceptable:

  • TOEFL 87-109 iBT/ 534–633 PBT
  • IELTS 5,5–6,5
  • Cambridge English First (FCE) 161–180
  • BEC Vantage 161–180
  • Michigan ECCE (min. 650)
  • PTE General Level 3
  • TOEIC Listening & Reading 785, TOEIC Speaking & Writing 310
  • Duolingo 100–125
  • EnglishScore 400–499 (CoreSkills)

Within application procedure your English test shall be valid. If it is expired, you shall register for a standardized English test and provide the result by the application deadline.

CAREER

International students have the right to work while studying in Lithuania as long as they are enrolled in university. EU students can work full-time, meaning up to 40 hours per week. International Bachelor’s and Master’sstudents from non-EU countries can also work up to 40 hours per week after obtaining the Temporary Residence Permit. The limitation of working time does not apply to international students in doctoral studies.

International students have a possibility to stay in the country for 12-15 months afterwards to look for a job. Check more information here

VMU Career Centre, which is a subdivision of Student Affairs Department, provides many services and opportunities for students and recent graduates such as career counselling, assistance in preparation of Curriculum vitae (CV), assistance get ready for a job, internship and volunteering interviews, various events on career counselling: practical seminars, lectures, meetings with employers, “Career days”, etc. For more information about job, internship or volunteering offers check VMU Career Centre website.

ACCOMMODATION

Everything, including fees, price, and payment you can find on the Accommodation site.

VMU offers three different dormitories for students to choose from. Two of them are in Kaunas, Dormitory No. 2 and Dormitory No. 5, and one is in the capital Vilnius, Dormitory No. 6.
