Sustainable vegetable production depends on the effective integration of conservation tillage practices with suitable transplanting technologies. This study analyzes the interaction between conservation and conventional tillage practices and the performance of three transplanter types: disc-type, carousel-type, and dibble-type. A split-plot experimental design was employed, where tillage methods (Conventional 1, Conservation 1, Conventional 2, and Conservation 2) were assigned to main plots, and transplanter types (disc-type, carousel-type, and dibble-type) were assigned to subplots. Key performance metrics, including seedling spacing, planting depth, gripping force, vertical positioning, damage rate, and survival rate, were evaluated for tomato and watermelon seedlings. The findings revealed consistent seedling spacing across transplanter types and tillage methods, while other performance indicators varied significantly. Under conservation tillage conditions, the dibble-type transplanter yielded suboptimal survival rates, with tomato seedling survival dropping to 75%, below the acceptable 90% threshold. In contrast, disc and carousel transplanters achieved higher survival rates under similar conditions, albeit with slightly increased damage rates, up to 8.1% for watermelon seedlings. This study highlights the necessity of selecting compatible transplanting equipment for the successful implementation of conservation tillage systems. By identifying optimal transplanter-tillage combinations, the research contributes to the advancement of sustainable vegetable production practices. Future studies should address crop-specific requirements and their interactions with conservation tillage and transplanting equipment to refine these recommendations further.

  • Comprehensive studies are needed to investigate the diversity, abundance, and seed bank of weeds in winter wheat, spring barley, and spring oilseed rape crops due to a lack of experimental studies. Tillage has a long-term impact on agroecosystems. Since 1999, a long-term field experiment has been conducted at the Experimental Station of Vytautas Magnus University. The soil of the experimental site is classified as Epieutric Endocalcaric Planosol (Endoclayic, Episiltic, Aric, Drainic, Endoraptic, Uterquic), according to the World Reference Base. Treatments were arranged using a split-plot design. According to the factorial field experiment, the straw was removed from one part of the experimental field, and on the other part of the field, the straw was chopped and spread at harvesting (factor A). Six tillage systems, conventional (deep) and shallow plowing, shallow loosening, shallow rotovation, catch cropping and rotovation, and no tillage, were used as a subplot (factor B). The current study results show that the number of annual, perennial, and total weeds and the dry matter biomass decreased in shallow-plowed plots compared to deep-plowed plots. Different applied tillage treatments had different effects on perennial weeds. In the upper (0–10 cm) soil layer studied, the number of annual, perennial, and total weed seeds decreased in the fields where the straw was chopped and spread compared to the fields where the straw was removed. In the deeper soil layer (10–25 cm), no tillage with cover crops and direct seeding without cover crops reduced the number of annual and perennial weed seeds compared to deep tillage. The aim of this experiment was to investigate the effects of long-term tillage of different intensities and straw retention systems on weeds in crop fields. The results were obtained in 2019 and 2021 (winter wheat, spring barley, spring oilseed rape).

In this scientific study, the regulation of digital technologies used in democratic processes—specifically electronic voting and electronic petitions—is examined. The primary goal is to determine how these technologies should be governed to ensure the integrity of citizens’ rights. The study explores the historical development of citizens’ rights, the emergence of digital rights, and the key features of electronic democracy, including technologies that enable electronic voting and petitions. It analyses how selected countries regulate these technologies and identifies the main objectives for their governance. The study concludes that the continued use and regulation of digital technologies in democratic processes depend heavily on robust cybersecurity measures. Until cybersecurity is reliably ensured, these technologies should not be used in critical democratic functions such as voting and petitioning.

  • The idea to write this book primarily came from our intention to share what we have discovered about one of the greatest childhood miracles – play. For a number of years we have explored this phenomenon, yet its profound and extraordinary nature still continues to surprise us. Promotes development and, at the same time, is the greatest achievement of the child. Keeping this in mind, we designed our monograph for a few purposes. First, we wanted to present the results of the three-year project “Development of Self-Regulation in Play” attained in play research laboratory of the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences. Second, we sought for the first time to discuss in Lithuanian language the theory of play based on cultural – historical psychology. Our objective was to formulate and present the key principles of the development of self-regulation through play activities. Finally, we aimed to describe the steps of practical use of joint (adult-child) play activities that help a child to develop a self-regulatory behavior during play. Why did we choose to focus on the development of self-regulation through play activities? Simply that a large number of worldwide studies show (Elkind, 1982, 2007; Singer, Singer, D’Agostino, DeLong, 2008; Frost, 2010) that children’s imaginary play is vanishing and that their imagination and self-regulation skills have deteriorated. Another observed trend is a clear opposition between play and academic learning (Miller & Almon, 2009; Nicolopoulou, 2010). Surveys reveal that currently selfregulation and executive functions are in the center of researchers’ attention worldwide and are among top ten studies in progress. [...]
