Council

The University Council is a collegial management body which consists of 11 members:

• one member shall be appointed and recalled by the Student Representative Council in accordance with its procedures;
• five members of the University staff shall be appointed and recalled by the academic community following the procedure stipulated by the Senate;
• five members, who shall not belong to the University staff and students, shall be selected, appointed and recalled following the procedure stipulated by the Senate; one of these members shall be selected, appointed and recalled by the Student Representative Council following their procedures. These four members shall be selected through a open competition.

As foreseen by the VMU Statute, the University’s Council affirms the vision and mission of the University as well as the strategy offered by the Rector, discusses and approves restructuring plans proposed by the Rector, discusses and approves major decisions related to taking care of the university’s support and performs other functions.
