Incoming Students’ Sustainability Guide

Sustainable living is becoming increasingly essential for shaping a responsible global future. It stands as a key priority for the “Erasmus+” Programme, which encourages students to adopt environmentally friendly and conscious habits during their “Erasmus+” mobility.

Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) actively contributes to this mission, which is reflected in its strong performance in global sustainability rankings:
QS World University Rankings: Sustainability: top 631 globally.
UI Green Metric: 247 position worldwide.

These results highlight VMU’s commitment to social and environmental responsibility, which perfectly aligns with the sustainable lifestyle practices promoted to incoming students:

In Lithuania we have different containers for different waste: for paper - blue container, for plastic/metal - yellow container, and for glass – green container, plus a designated bin (often a smaller one with a special liner) for food and kitchen waste like scraps and coffee grounds. Please sort your waste carefully; everything else, like hygiene items, goes into the regular mixed waste bin.

Bottles and cans must be returned to “Taromatas”. “Taromatas” is at every grocery shop. More information.
