This Saturday from 10:30 a.m. (05.14) at the VMU President Valdas Adamkus Sports Centre “ELITAS” group will play, and on Sunday (05.15) from 10:30 a.m. the most awaited clash of basketball players from the “PRO” group will take place at the “Hoptrans” Arena, which this year will be located at the VMU Botanical Garden, where the Vytautas Magnus basketball team will also compete.

VMU signs Memorandum of Understanding with Mariupol University

During the meeting of VMU Rector's Council on May 4, the Rector of Vytautas Magnus University Prof. Juozas Augutis signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Rector of Mariupol State University (MSU) (Ukraine) Prof. Mykola Trofymenko. With this memorandum, universities undertake to carry out joint study programs, including double degree programs, to develop international projects, to share scientific material and good academic practice, and to conduct bilateral exchanges between academic staff and students.

Free Concert for Ukrainians and Lithuanians Who’ve Helped Them

On 13 May, all Ukrainians residing in Lithuania and the Lithuanians who are helping them are welcome to attend a free concert of classical music which will offer performances by Ukrainian pianist Alexey Botvinov, who has visited many countries around the world, and the ensemble Lietuva, which represents Lithuanian culture. The title of the concert is symbolic: Après Un Rêve (After a Dream). This piece by French composer Gabriel Fauré will be performed by Botvinov and Lietuva's soloist Dovilė Kazonaitė (soprano).

VMU Exhibition: 100 Years of the University and Those Who Created It

Last Thursday, April 28, marked 33 years since the re-establishment of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) in Kaunas. This year, the University also commemorates the centennial of its founding: 100 years ago, the University of Lithuania was established, which was later renamed Vytautas Magnus University. On this occasion, the exhibition “Vivat Universitas Vytauti Magni!” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the university was opened at the VMU's Rectorate building. Through photographs, it reminds of the life of the university from its foundation, interwar activities to its re-establishment in 1989 and its present-day works. The exhibition will open its doors to the general public in May.
