Ukrainian Citizens are Invited to Apply for Summer Course

Ukrainian citizens who are lecturers, researchers and educators working in Lithuanian research and study institutions, as well as Ukrainian citizens studying at higher education institutions, are invited to apply for and join the Lithuanian Language and Culture Summer Course in Kaunas, which will take place from the 18^th of July until the 12^th of August.

Candidates from Ukraine will be invited to develop their knowledge of Lithuanian language and culture at the Lithuanian Language and Culture Course for foreigners and foreign nationals of Lithuanian origin, which has been organized at Vytautas Magnus University for over 20 years and attracts over 100 students from approximately 30 countries around the world every year.

The course consists of two parts: Lithuanian language lectures and socio-cultural activities.

In order to learn the language as efficiently as possible, participants are initially divided into groups according to their current proficiency level of Lithuanian language, from absolute beginners to advanced speakers (from A0 to C1), and spend an intensive month learning the language.

Socio-cultural activities include lectures on Lithuanian culture, art, everyday life, folk traditions, society, trips to museums, Lithuanian sightseeing, tours, discovering Lithuania’s beautiful nature, as well as activities in which participants present their own country and culture.

Eligibility requirements

The candidate must be:

• Be a student, teacher or researcher at a public science and /or education institution;
• Be a Ukrainian citizen who has fled from Ukraine to Lithuania as a result of the military actions of the Russian Federation in Ukraine;

Terms and conditions

• The selection of candidates is based on their motivation;
• The priority is given to those who have not participated in the courses before;
• The same person can participate in the courses for the citizens of Ukraine no more than 3 times.
• Applications submitted without the necessary documents or their substitutes shall be rejected.
• Please assess your language level under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. A table here.

Documents to be submitted:

• Application form (with the place for the motivation letter included);
• A document proving candidate’s ID;
• Foreigner’s (Alien’s) registration certificate issued by the Migration Department of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania or a valid travel document, or other documents that confirms your right to enter and stay in Lithuania. The date of issue of these documents should be no earlier than 24 February 2022.
• Document or a copy of a document proving the candidate’s status (copy of student certificate, employment contract, copy of educational or research qualifications or other documents proving status). If the participant of the Lithuanian language and culture course for Ukrainian citizens is not able to provide documents proving his/her status, the receiving institution must follow its internal procedure for recognition of undocumented candidates, in accordance with the current recommendations of the Centre for Quality Assessment of Higher Education, as published here and here.
  • This means that if the status documents cannot be provided, the following documents can be submitted as replacements:
    • Contracts with former employers; email correspondence with employers, research papers, etc.
    • Letters and other evidence that the participant has been accepted for study/employment or is currently in the consideration phase.
    • For those who are not working or studying and do not have complete documents – it is necessary to submit a CV with information about the last work/study experience, date of birth, address, education, whether they have applied to any institution (Lithuanian or Ukrainian) for restoration of documents, and to provide proof of such an application.

Кандидат повинен бути:

• студентом, викладачем чи науковим співробітником у державному науковому та/або навчальному закладі;
• громадянином України, який залишив Україну та прибув до Литви внаслідок військових дій Російської Федерації в Україні;

• Відбір кандидатів здійснюється на основі їх мотивації;
• Пріоритет надається тим, хто раніше не відвідував курси;
• Одна і та ж особа може брати участь у курсах для громадян України не більше 3 разів.
• Заявки, подані без необхідних документів або їх замінників, відхиляються.

Необхідні документи

• форма заявки (включаючи мотиваційного листа);
• документ, який підтверджує особу кандидата;
• свідоцтво про реєстрацію іноземця, видане Департаментом міграції Міністерства внутрішніх справ Литовської Республіки, або дійсний проїзний документ (закордонний паспорт), або інші документи, що підтверджують ваше право на в’їзд і перебування в Литві. !Дата видачі цих документів повинна бути не раніше 24 лютого 2022 року.
• документ або копія документа, що підтверджує статус кандидата (копія студентського посвідчення, трудового договору, копія освітньої чи наукової кваліфікації тощо). Якщо учасник курсу литовської мови та культури для громадян України не може надати документи, що підтверджують його статус, приймаюча установа повинна дотримуватися внутрішньої процедури визнання кандидатів без документів, відповідно до чинних рекомендацій Центру якості оцінки вищої освіти, опубліковані тут і тут.
• Це означає, що якщо документи про статус неможливо надати, такі документи можуть бути подані натомість:
• контракти з колишніми роботодавцями; листування електронною поштою з роботодавцями, наукові роботи тощо;
• листи та інші докази того, що учасник був прийнятий на навчання чи роботу або зараз перебуває на етапі розгляду;
• [для тих, хто не працює чи навчається і не має необхідних документів] необхідно подати резюме з інформацією про останнє місце роботи чи навчання, дату народження, адресу, освіту, чи звертались вони до будь-якого закладу (литовською або українською) для відновлення документів та надати підтвердження такої заяви.
