VMU Art Spaces and Museums
VMU art spaces are cultural hot spots of the city. Important annual cultural events and festivals of Kaunas take place here, as well as various cultural, educational and social activities.
Gallery 101
Academic Art Gallery 101 at VMU plays an important role in the intellectual life of the city. Educational projects and exhibitions presented here explore the cultural and historical context of art, while lectures and film viewings enrich the lives of the urban and academic communities, facilitating critical dialogue and interdisciplinary interpretation of art and culture.
Museum of S. & S. Lozoraičiai
On display at the Museum of S. & S. Lozoraičiai are personal belongings of the renowned Lozoraičiai family, together with the collected and maintained archives – video and audio tapes, documents, photos. Authenticity of the exposition allows to reconstruct the environment and spirit of the past times, highlighting the universal historical values through the presentation of these highly respectable people.
Sugihara House
The Sugihara Foundation is a museum and a public institution founded in 1999 by Lithuanian and Belgian intellectuals and businessmen in order to commemorate the name of Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara. The initiators of the foundation pursue several objectives, such as raising funds for the establishment and maintenance of the Sugihara House, gathering together intellectuals for collaborative research on tolerance and hatred and strengthening cultural relations between Japan and Lithuania.
Exhibition “Vivat Universitas Vytauti Magni”
In 2022, to mark the centennial of the University of Lithuania, a long-term exhibition titled Vivat Universitas Vytauti Magni was opened in the Rectorate Building of Vytautas Magnus University. The exhibition displays the history of the university from its founding and activities during the interwar period to its re-establishment in 1989 and its work today. Read more.
VMU History Hall
VMU History Hall is one of the spaces where people can acquaint themselves with an exposition showcasing the long-lasting history of the university and the building where the hall is located. Archived documents, photos, their reproductions, historical artifacts, possessions and donated exhibits are just some of the examples of what can be found here.
VMU Aula Magna
One of the most magnificent and acoustically impressive halls in the city is Aula Magna, where concerts are held as a way to spark interest among the youth in classical and modern music. The public here grows their appreciation for professional music, while the community’s aesthetic needs for musical culture are encouraged to grow more sophisticated. The Aula Magna Music Association holds monthly music evenings here, offering diversity of musical interpretations: from old sacral music to the works of modern composers, from instrumental chamber ensembles and vocals to choral music.
VMU Great Hall
VMU Great Hall is used for numerous occasions, such as concerts, dances, theatre plays, diploma award ceremonies, the most significant annual cultural events and festivals of Kaunas.
VMU Senate Hall
VMU Senate Hall is ideally suited for organizing conferences, meetings or seminars.
