1.1 Assigning persons to a group of persons with less opportunities
A person who wants to be assigned to a group of persons with fewer opportunities must submit a request and document(s) proving membership to one of the groups specified in section 1 to the coordinator of the VMU Erasmus+ programme no later than 1 (one) month before the start of mobility.
Individuals have the right to submit documents not named in section 1, justifying their membership in one of the groups of persons with less opportunities specified in section 1.
Documents are submitted in Lithuanian or English (the translation must be notarized or certified by a translation office).
The VMU Erasmus+ programme coordinator decides on the suitability of the document to assign a person to the group of persons with less opportunities, the VMU Erasmus+ institutional coordinator confirms the decision.
If the coordinator makes a negative decision, the person may submit additional documents or file a complaint within 14 (fourteen) calendar days at the latest. The commission established by the Rector examines the complaint.
2. Students with disabilities
Students with disabilities have the opportunity to receive not only the “additional scholarship for persons with less opportunities (see above)”, but also additional funding for the mobility period based on the actual costs incurred. Cost-effectiveness funding is used to fund needs that arise as a result of a student’s disability, e.g. paid visits to a doctor, a special diet, the need for a specially adapted residence, etc. are necessary during studies or practice abroad. In this table, you can see what VMU students previously applied for and who received funds.
Students with disabilities who wish to receive additional funding based on actual expenses must submit the necessary documents no later than 6 weeks before the start of the Erasmus+ study or internship period. More information can be found here.
The additional scholarship for mobility participants with less opportunities and the real cost funding doesn’t have to be used to purchase the same goods or services.
Students with disabilities (level of work ability 0-45%) who go for Erasmus+ studies or internships do not lose the opportunity to receive financial support provided to them by the university and the State Study Fund (payment for special needs, social scholarship, targeted payment). This financial support is paid in the same manner as during studies at VMU..
3. Possibilities of the host institution to accept exchange students with disabilities
After choosing a host institution, you can contact its international relations department directly and ask if this institution is ready/adapted to receive students with disabilities (in order to get the most accurate information, specify in as much detail as possible what adaptation is needed in your case). Some universities publish this information online, you can find it on the following web pages: „Inclusive mobility“ and „EUni4ALL–NETWORK“.
If you need help or if you have any questions, contact the Erasmus+ coordinators of VMU by e-mail: erasmus@vdu.lt
You can find the contacts of the staff of the International Cooperation Department here.
