Prof. Liudas Mažylis to be Awarded VMU Honorary Professorship

On Thursday 15 February, 1 p.m., the VMU Great Hall (28 S. Daukanto Str., Kaunas) will host a festive celebration dedicated to the Day and 100th anniversary of the Restoration of the Statehood of Lithuania, as well as the birthday of the university. The entire community of VMU and Kaunas as well as visitors from all corners of the world are welcome attend.

Edinburgh University Press has published Muslims in Eastern Europe, a book by Prof. Egdūnas Račius from VMU Dept. of Regional Studies, which introduces the centuries-old history of Muslim communities in Eastern Europe.

Historical Discovery: Chiune Sugihara’s Third Child Was Born in Kaunas

Recently, Ms. Madoka Sugihara, grand-daughter of Chiune Sugihara, granted the permission to Vytautas Magnus University’s Centre for Asian Studies to publish historical document Nr. 220 issued by Prof. Dr. Mažylis Private Hospital (currently Mažylis Maternity Hospital) which testifies the birth of Haruki, the third son of Ch. Sugihara.
