Apply Now: Scholarships for Full-time Master degree studies
The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania opens a Call for applications for 70 Lithuanian state grants for full-time Master degree or Integrated studies at Lithuanian higher education institutions for the academic year 2018/2019. The funding under the Call shall be provided to the nationals of the Republic of Ukraine, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Georgia, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Moldova, Japan, the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Korea, the State of Israel and foreigners of Lithuanian origin.
All approved candidates will receive a monthly scholarship of 380 euros for the whole duration of the studies. Only the nationals of the Republic of Ukraine, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Georgia and foreign citizens of Lithuanian origin for their Full-time Master degree studies will be covered the cost of the studies, up to limit not exceeding national standard study cost.
Full-time Master degree studies
- A monthly scholarship and a grant covering the standard study cost is offered for the nationals of the Republic of Ukraine,the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Georgia and foreign citizens of Lithuanian origin (50 grants altogether, 40 of them – to the nationals of the Ukraine);
- A monthly scholarship is offered for the nationals of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Moldova, Japan, the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Korea, the State of Israel (10 grants altogether).
Eligibility requirements
1. Candidate must be a national of one of the following countries: the Republic of Ukraine, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Georgia, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Moldova, Japan, the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Korea, and the State of Israel. Foreigner of Lithuanian origin cannot hold the citizenship from one of EU or EEA country.
2. Candidate must hold a bachelor degree.
3. Candidate must have an official letter of acceptance or pre-acceptance for full-time Master degree studies or Integrated studies programme from one of the Lithuanian higher education institutions.
4. Candidate must have good knowledge of the Lithuanian, English or another language the study programme is conducted in (the minimum B2 level of command of the language of instruction according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
5. A scholarship can be granted only once. A candidate who has already got funding under this instrument, will not be eligible.
6. A scholarship cannot be granted to a candidate who is studying or planning to study an international joint degree programme with a part of the studies (as mandatory mobility period) in the candidate’s home country.
Application procedure
A candidate for the Lithuanian State scholarship for full-time Master degree or Integrated studies should apply through the online application system and enclose the following scanned documents:
For the first selection round (deadline: 2nd of MAY, 2018):
1. Personal, contact information (data should be filled via online application system).
2. A document certifying the level of command of the language of instruction: a document issued by a competent institution (e. g. home institution, host institution, language centre or school, etc.) certifying the minimum B2 level of command of the language of instruction according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
3. Motivation letter (must be filled via online application system).
Please prepare a motivation letter including the following information:
1. Describe your experience, achievements which are related to the chosen study programme in Lithuania.
2. Please explain why you chose the particular study programme and the particular higher education institution in Lithuania.
3. Please describe how, in your opinion, you will benefit from studies in Lithuania in terms of your future career and personal development.
4. Please describe, why you are a suitable candidate for the Lithuanian State scholarship.
4. One recommendation in the Lithuanian, English or Russian language (must be provided through the online application system or added to the application form as an attachment using this format).
5. For full-time Master degree studies: a copy of the acceptance or pre-acceptance letter issued by a Lithuanian higher education institution certifying that the candidate was admitted to or is studying full-time Master degree study programme, including the candidate’s name, surname, the study programme which the candidate studies and its state code, the candidate’s study period;
6. For Integrated studies programmes: a copy of the confirmation letter issued by a Lithuanian higher education institution certifying that the candidate is studying Integrated study programme, including the candidate’s name, surname, the study programme which the candidate studies and its state code, the candidate’s study period. The confirmation letter issued by the Higher Education Institution should include the information about the number of credits acquired during the 1st cycle of studies (not less than 210 ECTS credits) and should confirm that candidate full-filled all 1st cycle requirements.
7. For foreigners of Lithuanian origin: applicants have to submit a certificate or another document, proving his/her Lithuanian origin, issued by the Lithuanian community of a respective country or other competent authority (an embassy and similar).
For the second selection round (deadline: 10th of JULY, 2018) – ONLY for those who successfully passed the first selection round:
1. A document certifying the completion of education at a higher education institution or adequate education (diploma and enclosure thereto) and its translation into Lithuanian, English or Russian. If the candidate has completed first-cycle studies but has not received a certificate (diploma and enclosure thereto), he/she can submit the certificate of a higher education institution based in a foreign country, specifying the study programme completed, courses or modules passed, their credits and assessments, the assessment of the final examination or theme of the final project and its assessment. Its translation into Lithuanian, English or Russian language should be attached.
2. In case a candidate has already started his/her full-time Master degree studies in Lithuania (in addition to diploma and diploma supplement): a certificate of a higher education institution, specifying the full-time Master degree study programme, courses or modules passed, their credits and assessments during the first year of studies should be submitted.
3. In case a candidate has already finished one Master degree study programme in Lithuania or another country: a document certifying the completed education at a higher education institution or adequate education (diploma and enclosure thereto) and its translation into Lithuanian, English or Russian language should be submitted.
4. In case a candidate is studying in Integrated study programme (in addition to the confirmation letter): a certificate (Transcript of Records) of a higher education institution, specifying the study programme, courses or modules passed, their credits and assessments during the 1st cycle should be submitted.
5. A candidate may be asked to provide additional documentation.
Selection of the candidates:
All eligible and complete applications are assessed by experts. The final decision on granting support to candidates will be based on:
- Applicant’s motivation (30 %);
- The level of command of the language of instruction (20 %);
- Academic achievements (50 %):
- Candidates for full-time Master degree studies in Lithuania: 1st cycle academic achievements;
- Students of full-time Master degree studies in Lithuania: 1st cycle academic achievements and academic results of the passed courses and modules during the 1st year of full-time Master degree study programme;
- Holders of Master degree obtained in Lithuania or another country: when making a decision the submitted academic achievements of graduated Master degree study programme are also taking into consideration;
- Integrated study programme students: 1st cycle academic achievements (academic results of the passed courses and modules during the 1st cycle of the Integrated study programme).
4. Recommendation.
Priorities:
- The priority will be given to the candidates who are planning or have already started their full-time Master degree or Integrated studies in the Lithuanian language.
- For Citizens of Ukraine: the priority will be given to candidates who are planning to study or are already studying:
- Biomedical Sciences;
- Physical Sciences;
- Technological Sciences;
- Creative Arts and Design.
Candidates who applied for the scholarship will be informed about the decision (after the first selection round) by e-mail not later than 2nd of July, 2018.

Notes:
- Please note that the application for a grant is an autonomous procedure, not having influence on admission to full-time Master’s degree programmes at Lithuanian higher education institutions: we highly recommend you to apply for full-time Master degree or Integrated studies first, afterwards – for the Lithuanian State scholarship.
- Applications with the enclosed documents must be submitted online in any of the following formats: JPEG, GIF, PNG, PDF.
- All application documents must be submitted by the set deadline. Please note that after the deadline no changes are possible. Incomplete applications or applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
- Kindly note that no other documents than the listed enclosures will be considered.
- All application documents must be submitted in English, Lithuanian or Russian language. No certified copies of the documents are required.
- Documents must be submitted only through the online application system. There’s no requirement to send them by post, fax or e-mail.
Important dates for applicants for the academic year 2018/2019:
13th of February – 2nd of May, 2018: first selection round;
2nd of July 2018: notification of conditionally selected applicants (first selection round);
10th of July 2018: 2nd selection round (ONLY for conditionally selected applicants);
Beginning of August 2018: Notification of successful selected applicants (second selection round).
