The DON@ Project is Entering Its Final Phase

From February 15 to 16, representatives from Vytautas Magnus University participated in a transnational meeting held in Lyon, France. The objective of this meeting was to outline the future steps for the student project titled “DON@ – Donation Opportunities for Newcomers”.

The primary aim of the DON@ project is to enhance the integration and living conditions of students facing fewer opportunities. One way to achieve this is by promoting mutual support, inclusion, and sustainable development.

The transnational meeting organized by ESN Cosmo Lyon in Lyon marked a significant advancement in the development of the DON@ project. The meeting covered the project’s final phase, including impact assessment, quality evaluation, good practice guide creation, finalization of the digital donation platform, and results of the dissemination.

In the meeting, the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), responsible for web development, delivered a comprehensive overview of the advancements in creating the digital platform for sharing donated items among students. Efforts are underway to launch a platform for students to exchange items within the next few months.

Remarkably, Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) organized the “Sharing is Caring” event during the Orientation Days in August 2023 and January 2024. In these events, newcomer international students had an opportunity to receive various items for their everyday lives and studies in Kaunas for the upcoming semester. These Kaunas gatherings successfully united over 150 new international full-time and exchange students, promoting a culture of sharing that not only strengthened their sense of community but also assisted them in reducing expenses. In total, over 400 students took part in these events in France, Lithuania, Spain, and Greece.

The project started in September 2022 and will last until August 2024 from the program Erasmus + KA220-HED – Cooperation partnerships in higher education.
