On February 14-15, Vytautas Magnus University hosted a transnational meeting in Kaunas, Lithuania, bringing together all partners of a new student project: “DON@ – Donation Opportunities for Newcomers”.

The key objective of this initiative is to facilitate the integration and improvement of living conditions of students with fewer opportunities by promoting mutual support, inclusion, and sustainable development.

Exchange students and full-time international students will benefit the most as they will get an opportunity to receive various stuff for organizing their everyday life in a new city free of charge.

The project involves the creation of a digital platform for exchanging and donating items, organizing events, and disseminating guides that assist in implementing similar projects at other higher education institutions and their partners.

Three universities and three non-profit organizations are involved in the implementation of the “DON@ Donation Possibilities for Newcomers” project: INSA Rouen Normandie (France), Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania), Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (Spain), IASIS NGO (Greece), Erasmus Student Network France, Erasmus Student Network CosmoLyon (France).

During the meeting at VMU, all partners exchanged views on many critical aspects of the “DON@ Donation Possibilities for Newcomers” project, such as specifications of the digital online platform, organizing storage facilities, students’ needs assessment, communication, and dissemination plan of the project, etc.

The project started in September 2022 and will last until August 2024 from the program Erasmus + KA220-HED – Cooperation partnerships in higher education.
