“All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.” (Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 1).

Marking the Human Rights Day on 10 December, the National Forum on Human Rights will be organized in Vilnius for the first time. This year’s event will focus on the theme of perspectives. The united academic and international communities as well as the governmental and non-governmental sectors will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The public is welcome to join the discussions at the forum regarding the present situation and what can be done to ensure that Lithuania provides appropriate living conditions for everyone – regardless of nationality, race, faith, gender, social status, beliefs or views.

The National Forum on Human Rights will be held on Monday 10 December, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania (Gedimino pr. 51, Vilnius).
