To create a mobility strategy built upon successful mobility support elements from three innovative projects and supplemented by the present project.

Short description of the project

The aim of the project is to set ambitious objectives for smart, inclusive and sustainable growth. Quality VET, successful labour market integration and more mobility of young people are key to unleashing all young people’s potential and achieving these objectives. To reach the 75% employment target for the population (20-64 years), the transition of young people to the labour market needs to be improved. Learning mobility in the form of a traineeship abroad is an important way in which young people can strengthen their employability, acquire professional competences and develop skills crucial for their labour market integration. However, only a very small group of apprentices and small and medium companies benefit from this opportunity. Young people at risk are particularly under-represented.

The overall aim of the ‘Mobility Coach’ project is to create a mobility strategy built upon successful mobility support elements from three innovative projects and supplemented by the present project. This strategy is built on 2 pillars: the 1st pillar is focused on the outgoing trainee and their teachers, trainers & mentors and the 2nd pillar is focused on the support of the incoming trainee and the support & the preparation of the hosting companies (esp. SMEs). In order for this strategy to be successfully implemented, we need ‘Mobility Coaches’ who will act as the pivotal point for teachers, trainers, mentors, trainees and companies (esp. SMEs) by conveying the different training and support modules to them and through that enabling successful learning mobility experiences for all sides. A Mobility Coach curriculum and a ‘tool box’ consisting of the everyday tools the coach needs to perform will be created. The consortium is a diverse partnership of organisations from across Europe representing different facets of the VET sector with a common concern with young people at risk.
