Call for Abstracts: 23rd Management International Conference

The Transform4Europe university alliance invites lecturers and researchers to participate in the 23rd Management International Conference titled Next Generation Challenges: Innovation, Regeneration and Inclusion, which will be held on 5-8 June 2024 in Trento, Italy. The conference is organised by the University of Primorska in partnership with the University of Trieste. The abstract submission deadline is 29 March.

VMU Scientists Have Launched New Project “NENUPHAR”

Scientists from Vytautas Magnus University Agriculture Academy (VMU AA) Department of Water Engineering and the Institute of Bioeconomy Research, led by Professor Arvydas Povilaitis, have started a large-scale HORIZON EUROPE CL6-2022-ZEROPOLLUTION-01-02 (Clean environment and zero pollution) project NENUPHAR - "New governance models to enhance nutrient pollution handling and nutrients recycling". The project brings together representatives from science, business, and non-governmental organizations from 21 European Union countries. The project duration is 4 years.

“The artes liberales system, which provides a broad education, is becoming increasingly important – it is no coincidence that in their external evaluations of Vytautas Magnus University, international experts have repeatedly emphasised its uniqueness and the need to preserve it not only at the university but also at the national level. There will always be those within the community, especially young people, who do not fit into established programmes. Likewise, there will always be those who are searching and creating. Therefore, the learning system should be such that it does not confine the learner to a narrow programme framework, but instead allows them to shape their own tasks and learning programme,” says VMU Rector Prof. Juozas Augutis, discussing the benefits of the artes liberales (liberal arts) principles applied at the University.

Open Dual Lecture on Dissonant Heritage

On 17 October, 5 p.m. (EEST), the Estonian Academy of Arts (EAA) is organising an open conversation/lecture with two speakers: VMU Assoc. Prof. Dr. Linara Dovydaitytė and EAA doctoral student and junior researcher Anu Soojärv. The lecture, titled Dissonant Heritage: Re-evaluating the Soviet Legacies, will focus on the heritage of Soviet legacies. The event will be streamed online.
