VMU Lithuanian Emigration Institute Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary
This year marks 30 years since Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) began conducting research into the history of the Lithuanian diaspora. In November 1994, the Emigration Studies Centre, later renamed the Lithuanian Emigration Institute (LEI), was established at VMU. Over the past three decades, it has become not only a renowned institution in Lithuania and globally for collecting and preserving the archival heritage of the diaspora but also a research centre for the cultural, political, and scholarly heritage of the Lithuanian diaspora, having established strong connections with Lithuanians worldwide.

Exchange Programs Abroad – A Chance to Reflect on Yourself
“When I go to study abroad with Erasmus, I understand that no one knows about my achievements, no one knows who I am, what knowledge I have. So you have to prove what you know. That’s interesting – it’s another opportunity to look at yourself from a different angle,” says Palina Salei, an English Philology student at VMU, who spent a semester studying at the University of Alicante in Spain as part of an Erasmus+ exchange programme.

Interdisciplinarity is becoming increasingly necessary today
The links between fashion magazines and literature, women’s education in the USA and Latin America, domesticity and mythology in eighteenth-century Mexican (then New Spain) paintings, and the myth of Arachne in the work of Gabriel García Márquez are just some of the topics that Evelina Gužauskytė, a PhD in Spanish (Colonial Latin American Literature), teacher of Latin American literature and culture, translator, and Associate Professor at Wellesley College in Boston, will discuss at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) from May 7 to 14.

VMU Youth Think Tank Discussed Pluriculturalism
On Wednesday 13 December, 4–6 p.m., at VMU Research and Studies Centre (23 V. Putvinskio, Rooms 310-311), youth think tank "How to be pluricultural and preserve your cultural traditions?" was held. During the event, VMU international students participated in a discussion with the Ambasador of Canada Jeanette Sautner and VMU Vice-Rector for Communication Dr. Vilma Bijeikienė.

Orientation game “Mosaic of Languages and Cultures in Kaunas”
We invite you to celebrate the European Day of Languages together with the Institute of Foreign Languages of VMU on September 26, 8:30 a.m., V. Putvinskio Str. 23, Room 106! In the first part of the event, a representative of Alliance for Recruitment will present the need for languages in the labor market, and the students who know more than one language will share their success stories. In the second part, pre-registered teams will participate in the orientation game "Mosaic of Languages and Cultures in Kaunas".
