Opening of the Lithuanian Language & Culture Winter Course
We would like to invite you to the opening of the Lithuanian Language and Culture Winter Course at Vytautas Magnus University. During this event, Mr. Algirdas Kaušpėdas, an architect, public activist, writer, singer and leader of the rock band Antis, will deliver a lecture titled “Why Do We Need Freedom?”. The opening ceremony will be hosted online on the 3rd of January at 2.30 p.m. (UTC +2, Eastern European Time).

VMU – the Most International University in Lithuania
A recently published international ranking of universities in Europe and central Asia (QS EECA University Rankings) revealed that Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) was ranked 61st out of 451 higher education institutions ranked in total – VMU was included among the 13.5 percent of the best universities in the region. As in the previous year, the internationality of the university received the highest position: with regard to this indicator, VMU received the first place among all other Lithuanian universities ranked and the 43rd place in the overall ranking.

VMU signed a cooperation agreement with “Socialinis taksi”
Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) On December 15th, at the Rectorate meeting, signed a cooperation agreement with the Public Institution “Socialinis taksi” – a social services provider with a unique assisted transportation service. This service helps to organise travel for people with disabilities to places of economic and social employment (work, various organisations, hospital, university, cinema, theatre, shop, meeting, etc).

Nominal Scholarships of I. Bielevičius were Awarded to VMU Students
Mr. Ignas Bielevičius, a graduate of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU), Faculty of Informatics, for the second year in a row has established two nominal, annual scholarships of 500 EUR for students of VMU. The purpose of these scholarships is to financially encourage students for their good study results and active participation in scientific and / or social activities.

Religious Minorities in Soviet Lithuania: Secret Meetings in Forests
"As the holidays approach, many still remember the stories of people celebrating religious holidays in hiding, with their curtains closed during the Soviet times. The Soviet government's hostility to religion may be interpreted in various ways, but it is important to emphasize that it was a political regime whose hostility toward religion came primarily from the state's desire to control and subordinate all religious organizations for its own purposes, although freedom of conscience was not officially forbidden," says VMU Professor Milda Ališauskienė, who, together with her colleagues, conducted a study on religious minorities in Soviet Lithuania.
