VMU to Host VMU World Lithuanian University Symposium

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the University of Lithuania, Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) will host the World Lithuanian University (PLU) Symposium that will take place on October 27-29, 2022. During the event, Lithuanian and world Lithuanian scientific, artistic and creative communities will be invited to discuss the significance of the tradition of the University of Lithuania for Lithuania and Lithuanian diaspora. The symposium will also discuss how university studies, science, art and creativity have been affected by the global pandemic in Lithuania and around world in recent years.

Competition for University Fee Exemptions for Spring Semester

Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) has launched an open competition for university fee exemptions for spring semester of the academic year 2021/2022. The purpose of the competition is to achieve the mission of socially responsible university by reducing social exclusion, creating appropriate financial conditions for VMU students to be accommodated and (or) study (taking into account different social (material) situations, study results and (or) accommodation in the dormitory).

Important Information about the Start of the Study Semester

In light of the current situation related to COVID-19 in the country, in order to protect the entire community of the University, the entire process of studies (lectures, work in laboratory and practice) will be conducted remotely for the first month of the semester (from 1 until 28 February).

22nd International Strindberg Conference will take place at VMU

Since 1973, the Strindberg Society has organized international Strindberg conferences. The 22nd conference is being organized by the Strindberg Society and the Department of Theatre Studies at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, Lithuania and will take place on 9–12 June, 2022. The conference will mark the anniversary of one hundred and ten years of Strindberg‘s death and will be a part of the programme „Kaunas – European Capital of Culture 2022“.

An Extraordinary Artistic Fiesta “Loud Words!” Will Take Place at VMU

On Saturday, January 22, 4 p.m., an extraordinary artistic fiesta “Loud Words!” will take place at Vytautas Magnus University's Great Hall. This unique event of the opening weekend of Kaunas – European Capital of Culture 2022 will allow its participants to immerse themselves in the magic of word and sound: the performances of Lithuanian and foreign artists will convince that the combination of poetry and music are much more than just sung poetry or hip-hop. 

Nominations for the President Valdas Adamkus Prize Are Now Open

Submissions for nominations for the President Valdas Adamkus Prize begin on January 14. The Prize of the Valdas Adamkus Presidential Library-Museum and Dana Gedvila Fund will be awarded for laudable and noteworthy achievements and efforts to protect and restore the natural environment in Lithuania and its neighbouring countries, and to ensure the sustainability of resources.

Exhibition by VMU Professor Opened at the House of Signatories

On January 7, a photo-video exhibition “To Destroy the Empire of Evil” by professor and photographer at the VMU Department of Contemporary Arts Romualdas Požerskis, and film director Sergei Loznica, was opened at the House of Signatories in Vilnius.  Two famous creators are inviting to take a look at the years of great significance for Lithuania and remember the events that led to the liberation of our country and laid the foundations for the collapse of the Soviet empire.
