International Celebration of Students’ Creations to be Held at VMU
On Friday 6 May, 5–8 p.m., international celebration of students' creations, "Europe in the City: Kaunas", will be held at the VMU Centre for Research and Studies (23 V. Putvinskio g., Kaunas).

Giedrius Bučas elected winner of the President Valdas Adamkus Prize
The winner of the Environmental Prize of Valdas Adamkus Presidential Library-Museum and Dana Gedvila Fund (5,000 euros) was announced on the International Mother Earth Day, April 22. This year, the committee elected Giedrius Bučas, the founder of the social initiative "Creative Corner 360°", change leader, social activist, social entrepreneur, and initiator of the sustainable hike around the country "For a Clean Lithuania!" in 2020.

“V2” – Celebrating community: from Dakar winners to academic heights
The “V2” community awards are like a new beginning for the University celebrating the 100th anniversary of the University of Lithuania and the Year of Lithuanian Universities, reviving an old tradition. This awards evening is dedicated to community mobilisation and will also reward the most dedicated lecturers and students, the members of the university community who are full of new ideas, the most interesting events, the most active student organisations, etc. for their activities and achievements in 2021. Nominations will be presented by well-known faces: from this year's Dakar winners to the newly "baked" deans, from the volunteers of the year to the representatives of the alumni club, the celebration will be diverse and multifaceted.

VMU Graduate Anna Romanenko: Ukraine Will Win, It’s a Matter of Time
“Lithuanians are realists regarding Russia. All of this is already familiar to you: you have faced it as well, and you also fought for your independence and you have a very similar history. You feel it when you talk to any Lithuanians and you say: “I’m from Ukraine”. That’s all that is needed. Unfortunately, the Western world still sees Russia not as a threat, they think: “Everything will be alright. Conflict will end and we will live in the same world that we lived in before”. That is the biggest problem”, Anna Romanenko, Ukrainian graduate of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU), says. Currently, she is working at the non-profit association Global Lithuanian Leaders, where she is managing the Boycott Russia campaign.

A. Ramuckytė: Ukrainians Come as Refugees and Remain as Volunteers
Austėja Ramuckytė is an active student of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU), for whom volunteering is a big part of life. Austėja faced a significant challenge – after discovering the desired job of a volunteer coordinator in the Kaunas Red Cross, two weeks later she had to deal with a critical situation. "I was not yet used to my new duties when the Russian war against Ukraine started and I had to start dealing with the biggest humanitarian crisis Lithuania has not faced before."

Student Conference “Freedom to Create 2022”
On the occasion of the centennial of the founding of the University of Lithuania and the anniversary of the re-establishment of VMU, we invite you to a student conference “Freedom to Create 2022”, which will take place on April 29.
