Lithuania Calls Quarantine: Shutting Non-Essential Shops and Borders
The Lithuanian government has announced a two-week nationwide quarantine, to come into effect on Monday, to stop the spread of the coronavirus. The measures include closing borders to foreign nationals and shops except pharmacies and groceries, LRT.lt and BNS report.

Scholarship for Full-Time Master Degree Studies 2020/2021
The Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania is opening a Call for applications for 50 Lithuanian state grants for full-time Master’s degree at Lithuanian higher education institutions for the 2020/2021 academic year.

4th BAAS Conference in Kaunas
After being organized the first time in 2014 in Vilnius, later in Tartu (2016) and Riga (2018) international academic conference of the Baltic Alliance for Asian Studies (BAAS) is returning to Lithuania in 2020, this time to Kaunas, Vytautas Magnus University (VMU). The event will take place on March 5-7 mainly at VMU multifunctional building at Putvinskio str. 23.

Master of Organizational Psychology – Double Degree Diploma
Rectors of Vytautas Magnus University and Linnaeus University (LNU) in Sweden signed Double Degree Diploma agreement in Organizational Psychology Master program.

University Fees Exemptions Were Awarded for Students
Vytautas Magnus university (VMU) publishes the results of an open competition for university fee exemptions for Spring semester 2019/2020. The purpose of the competition is to achieve the mission of socially responsible university by reducing social exclusion, creating appropriate financial conditions for VMU students to be accommodated and (or) study (taking into account different social (material) situations, study results and (or) accommodation in the dormitory).

VMU Community Invited to Participate in International Conference
Over the decades, psychotherapy has developed a body of instruments helping individuals deal with their personal traumas. With an accelerating rate of success, professionals have been applying these instruments in tackling the post-traumatic stress disorders of their patients. Governments, too, have adopted these tools for addressing the needs of such affected groups as war veterans and refugees.

The Exchange Week Has Ended at VMU
Last week, VMU’s International Cooperation Department organised Erasmus+ week designed to promote exchange opportunities abroad. Not only students could discuss their future travels over a cup of coffee with VMU employees, choose the destination during the travel fair, they also watched a move about the origins of Erasmus+ programme, exercised to lift their luggage at VMU sports centre, but also demonstrated their knowledge and creativity in the trivia quiz and open mic event. The entire week ended in the “Take-Off” event designed to present the students with the benefits of the international experience and other activities that bring joy to our life.

Time for Asia: Open Lecture on Contemporary China
Centre for Asian Studies is inviting everyone interested in China to the first open lecture this semester from the cycle “Time for Asia”. The presentation titled “Contemporary China – invisible behind the visible” will be given by Dr. Vida Mačikėnaitė who is researching and teaching about contemporary China both in Japanese and Lithuanian universities.
