My first semester at VMU was one of the best experiences I’ve had in my life so far, and it was even more enjoyable thanks to the support from the friends I’ve made here. I’m also thankful for the guidance my professors gave me, they made navigating and adapting to a university in a different continent not as intimidating as it seems. I can picture the rest of my semesters being just as good, if not better.

I am a Ukrainian international student and since enrolling into the programme of English Philology, I have explored the English language from multiple unexpected angles. I have never realized just how strongly language impacts the way societies are built and how they function. Discourse Analysis and Sociolinguistics courses reveal it best and are very engaging. Linguistic classes such as Phonetics and Morphology that come before introduce the technical language necessary for further academic development. Literary courses are just superb, providing a lot of historical context that put all the texts into perspective. The teachers are very communicative and with a good sense of humour.
